  3. NASHVILLE Blake Martinez Jersey , Tenn. (AP) The Latest on the Tennessee Titans needing to replace veteran safety Johnathan Cyprien after losing him for the season with a torn ACL (all times local): — 7 p.m. A person with direct knowledge of the visit says veteran Eric Reid will be among the safeties working out for the Tennessee Titans in their search for a potential replacement with Johnathan Cyprien out for the season with a torn ACL. Reid will work out for the Titans on Friday, a person familiar with Reid’s visit told The Associated Press. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team does not announce which players it is working out. Titans coach Mike Vrabel said earlier Thursday that the Titans have looked at Reid and were in the process of trying to bring the safety in for a visit. Reid is one of the players who kneeled during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality. He has been out of work since playing out his contract with San Francisco. Reid, 26 Dan Fouts Jersey , started 69 of 70 games with 10 career interceptions. — AP Pro Football Writer Rob Maaddi contributed to this report. — Tennessee safety Johnathan Cyprien will miss the season with a torn left ACL, and coach Mike Vrabel says veteran Eric Reid is among the safeties the Titans want to look at as a potential replacement. Cyprien left practice Wednesday after grabbing at his left knee. He walked to the locker room with trainers. Vrabel announced after practice Thursday that Cyprien tore his ACL. The Titans have Kendrick Lewis and Demontre Hurst among the other options at safety on the roster. Vrabel says the Titans are in the process of trying to bring in Reid along with other safeties for a workout. Cyprien signed a four-year deal last season. He started 10 games after dealing with an injured hamstring last year. — The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms with third-round draft pick Deadrin Senat, a defensive tackle from South Florida. The deal leaves only the team's first-round pick Demar Dotson Jersey , wide receiver Calvin Ridley of Alabama, unsigned before Friday's opening of a two-day rookie minicamp. Of the team's six draft picks, Senat may have the clearest path to a starting job. There is an opening at defensive tackle after free agent Dontari Poe signed with NFC South rival Carolina. On Wednesday Tramon Williams Jersey , the team announced agreements with four draft picks: cornerback Isaiah Oliver, running back Ito Smith, wide receiver Russell Gage and linebacker Foye Oluokun. 4. New Cowboys receivers coach Sanjay Lal closely studied Dez Bryant‘s route running on film from 2017 before the team made a decision on the receiver’s future. He saw the same thing Cowboys scouting chief Will McClay did — inconsistency. “I still saw he’s physical and violent at the route top Justin Hardy Jersey ,” Lal said, via Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News. “He’s still one of the best slant runners in the league. “Without getting into specifics, I just saw more inconsistencies in his game [than in previous years].” Lal declined to expound on the inconsistencies he saw. It echoed what McClay said after the draft in a radio interview Shaq Mason Jersey , pointing out Bryant’s inability “to win one-on-one, to win downfield” as well as the receiver’s “inconsistency.” Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who remains close with Bryant Jim Otto Jersey , disagreed earlier this week, saying Bryant still can make a “significant contribution” to a team. Lal also provided a complimentary assessment of Bryant’s game overall. “I would always pull Dez Bryant cut-ups, ‘Here’s how you go play violently for a ball; here’s how you turn on a back-shoulder fade Austin Hooper Jersey ,'” Lal said. “I have a whole slant cut-up of Dez Bryant, so I’ve been a great admirer of how he plays the game. I still think he has that.” Bryant remains without a job after the Cowboys released him a month ago. The Dallas Cowboys have drafted a tight end with Jason Witten on the verge of retirement after 15 seasons. The Cowboys took Dalton Schultz of Stanford with the 137th overall pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft Saturday. The compensatory choice was their second of the fourth round. Dallas selected former Kansas defensive end Dorance Armstrong with the 116th pick. ESPN reported Friday that Witten is planning to retire and join the network's "Monday Night Football" crew as lead analyst. Owner Jerry Jones says Witten was taking the weekend to consider his future and hadn't made a decision. Witten is the franchise leader in games, catches and yards receiving. He and Tony Gonzalez are the only NFL tight ends with at least 1 Brandon Parker Jersey ,000 catches and 10,000 yards. Schultz had 22 catches for 212 yards and a career-high three touchdowns as a senior. Armstrong had 10 sacks as a junior at Kansas in 2016. George King Jersey
  5. The Texans have begun formulating a plan to replace safety Andre Hal. Houston expected to have one of the top safety tandems in the NFL after signing Tyrann Mathieu to start opposite Hal this season. But Hal Bob Griese Jersey , who started all 16 games at free safety last season, recently was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He still is being evaluated at MD Anderson Cancer Center to determine his course of treatment. While he vows to play again, Hal won’t start the season on the field with the Texans. The Texans will have only five healthy safeties at their minicamp this week, with Mathieu, Justin Reid Jaquiski Tartt Jersey , Kurtis Drummond, Treston Decoud and Ibraheim Campbell getting reps there. Corey Moore continues to rehab an injury that will keep him out until training camp. Kenny Vaccaro, Tre Boston and Eric Reid — the older brother of Texans’ rookie Justin — remain available on the free agent market. The Texans also could consider playing cornerback Kareem Jackson (pictured) more at safety, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. Houston has nine cornerbacks on its roster. Jackson has played safety in practice and in games, with his versatility an asset for defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel. The best-case scenario for the Texans would be for Justin Reid Jordan Poyer Jersey , a third-round pick out of Stanford, to win the starting job in training camp. Like a certain high-profile politician, Raiders coach Jon Gruden likes to come up with nicknames for people. Unlike said certain high-profile politician, the insults in Gruden’s nicknames are slightly more subtle. “We鈥檙e calling Martavis the white tiger,鈥?Gruden said Wednesday. 鈥淚 used to go to Busch Gardens in Tampa. We call [receiver Joey] Galloway the white tiger in Tampa. You go to Busch Gardens and they鈥檝e got a white tiger. You go 12 times or 13 times Bryan Anger Jersey , the white tiger was always in his cage. But the white tiger came out today. Bryant came out. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 know if you get that analogy, but sometimes he comes out to play and sometimes he doesn鈥檛. It鈥檚 good to see him because he鈥檚 really special, like the white tiger.” Gruden can try to sell that as a compliment, but it’s a backhanded slap at a guy who has missed a couple of days of practice this week with migraines. Gruden previously had groused about Bryant missing practice time due to an illness. That’s the way plenty of football coaches operate. They want their players to be available to practice and play, and they have little sympathy or empathy for players who have injuries or illnesses that keep them from playing. 6. For a while the mantra around the Washington Wizards was: ”Everybody eats.” With the regular season winding down Albert Wilson Jersey , the slumping Wizards are starving. Taurean Prince scored 23 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and the Atlanta Hawks rallied to beat the Wizards 103-97 on Friday night. Washington, which led by six points in the fourth quarter, dropped its fourth straight game and fell into eighth place in the Eastern Conference. ”Nobody wanted to share the basketball tonight. Simple as that. Nobody wanted to share the basketball tonight,” Wizards coach Scott Brooks said. ”When you take bad shots you end up missing. Simple game.” Washington shot 40.2 percent (35 of 87) from the field compared to 48.1 percent (38 of 79) for Atlanta. Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 32 points. Wizards point guard John Wall sat out what was the second of back-to-back games for Washington, and forward Markieff Morris left with 4:11 remaining in the first quarter when he picked up two quick technical fouls. Six Hawks scored in double figures. Reserve Tyler Dorsey had 22 points Wes Schweitzer Jersey , including 13 in the second half for the Hawks, who had lost two straight. Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 13 points for the Wizards and Otto Porter Jr. had 10. ”The ball has been sticking,” Porter said of the Wizards’ offense. ”We’ve got to do a better job of moving the ball, looking for the extra pass, looking for the right pass.” The Wizards trailed by four to start the fourth quarter, but Beal scored seven straight points to put Washington ahead 93-87 with 5:28 left to play. Atlanta rallied and Mike Muscala’s corner 3 gave the Hawks the lead at the 2:04 mark. Prince scored four straight points to make it 99-93 as the Wizards went over five minutes without a field goal before Tomas Satoransky’s basket cut the deficit to 99-95 with 43 seconds remaining. Dewayne Dedmon’s dunk off a pass from Prince pushed the Hawks’ lead back to six. ”They made a little run in the fourth and we just battled back,” Dorsey said. ”And we just made big shots. Timely passes Mike Alstott Jersey , timely shots.and we finished the game strong with big plays. Beal was 0 for 4 from the field down the stretch. ”When you lose a lead in the fourth quarter and you’re on the road it’s not easy,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. TIP-INS Hawks: Earned a split of the season series. … Improved to 7-33 on the road. … DeAndre’ Bembry missed a pair of free throws early in the fourth quarter and, as a result, everyone in the arena won free fast food. … The Hawks were just 16 of 23 from the free throw line. Wizards: C Ian Mahinmi (concussion) did not play and is day-to-day. … Topped 2,000 assists (2,016) for just the second season since 1992. . Morris has 13 technical fouls on the season. … Beal recorded the 21st 1,800-point season (1 Len Dawson Jersey ,825) in team history, joining Wall as the only player on the active roster to accomplish it. FINDING HIS RANGE Oubre hit multiple 3-pointers in a game for the first time since March 23. He went 3 for 7 against the Hawks after going 2 for 35 over the past seven games. DORSEY DOING IT Dorsey is finishing his rookie season strong, averaging 16.8 points over his last five games. ”He’s just grown with his opportunities, doing more and more, making big shots,” Budenholzer said. UP NEXT Hawks: At Boston on Sunday. Wizards: Host Boston on Tuesday night. The Chiefs signed second-round draft pick Breeland Speaks to his four-year rookie contract Thursday, making him the third of their six draft selections to sign a deal. Kansas City did not have a first-round pick this year after trading it away last year to move up and select quarterback Patrick Mahomes II. So Lane Taylor Jersey , new general manager Brett Veach waited until the 46th overall pick to grab Speaks, who is expected to bolster the Chiefs' weak pass rush this season. Speaks played three seasons at Mississippi, where he had 121 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and nine sacks. But the Chiefs hope his production will increase now that he can focus on outside linebacker. The Chiefs needed help there even before parting with veteran Tamba Hali this offseason. Adidas Cam Fowler Jersey
  7. Jalen Ramsey got his hands dirty Tuesday for the first time since the birth of his daughter. Ramsey reported to Jacksonville Jaguars training camp and jumped right into the mix with the first-team defense Malcom Brown Jersey , taking part in drills, talking trash and breaking up passes. Sweat, grass, dirt. It might have been the messiest Ramsey’s hands have been since he skipped the start of camp to remain in Tennessee with his girlfriend, Bre, and newborn daughter, Breelyn. That’s because the All-Pro cornerback, whose hands might be as valuable as anyone’s on that side of the ball, made a deal with Bre that he wouldn’t have to change diapers. ”We’ve been best friends since high school so we’ve always kind of talked about how the process would go a little bit,” Ramsey said. ”Of course, everything’s different when it actually happens, but for the most part, we have really good agreement that I won’t necessarily have to change diapers.” So what is Ramsey’s part of the trade-off? ”She changes the diapers; I feed her,” he said. Ramsey became a first-time father last Wednesday, the day the Jaguars reported for camp. He missed four practices to spend extra time with his family. Coach Doug Marrone excused his absences. ”It is good when everybody is together, everyone is back in and everyone is in a good place mentally Alex Anzalone Jersey ,” Marrone said. ”Just having that balance in your life, making sure everyone is good at home, making sure everyone is OK, making sure everything is set. Then you can get here and then you can focus and put your mind on what you need to do. It is always good when you can get everyone back in here, and I am glad everything worked out well.” Marrone had planned to work Ramsey in slowly, but the ultra-competitive, lock-down cornerback refused to stay on the sideline during his first day back. The Jaguars had to like what they saw, even though they’ve seen similar from him for two years now. Ramsey played in every game in two seasons and emerged as one of the league’s top defenders. He expects to be even better in Year 3. ”We’re going to see when the season starts, right?” he said. ”We’re going to see. And y’all will see. Y’all will see. I never give myself like goals. I guess you could say like, `Oh, I’m going to have this many interceptions; I’m going to have this many” pass breakups. ”But what I can tell you, though, that I will do is I’ll make sure I prepare myself and I’m ready to go out there and give it my all so I’m not letting anybody down, my teammates, coaches, my family Len Dawson Jersey , y’all, fans. I can tell you that much.” He gets one of his toughest tests in the team’s season opener at the New York Giants and against three-time Pro Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr. ”Let’s get this out the way right now: He’s a good receiver. We all know that,” said Ramsey, the fifth overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft. ”But y’all know me at the same time. Yeah, he’s good. But I’m good, too. If y’all want to say he’s the best at his position; I’m the best at my position, so we’re going to go at it. We’re going to give the people a show the first game of the season. ”He’s going to have some wins; I’m going to have some wins. I just plan on having more wins.” Ramsey is the outspoken face of Jacksonville’s vaunted defense, a unit that was among the best in the league in 2017. The Jaguars return 10 starters on that side of the ball, including all four in the secondary, and expect to be even more dynamic in their second season together. ”At the end of the day, win games,” he said. ”If we can win games on the defensive side of the ball. We can always ask for more: More turnovers, more touchdowns, more opportunities giving the ball back to the offense. Just more of everything.” Except diapers. ”It feels good” to be back, Ramsey said. ”Miss my little girl already, but it feels good. It was cool. It was good. Long few days Wes Schweitzer Jersey , but everything that I could have dreamed of.” — METAIRIE, La. (AP) Veteran receivers Brandon Tate and Michael Floyd joined practice at New Orleans Saints training camp on Wednesday, bolstering a receiver corps thinned by injuries and adding to the mix of players competing in the return game. New Orleans also has activated veteran tight end Michael Hoomanawanui, who began training camp on the physically unable to perform list. The 30-year-old Tate played in 13 games for Buffalo last season, when his most significant contributions came in the return game. He returned 28 kickoffs for 548 yards and 20 punts for 193 yards. ”He had a good workout. We’re familiar with the player, just with his experience,” coach Sean Payton said of Tate, who also has played for New England and Cincinnati during his nine-year career. ”We’ll have a chance to take a look at him both in the punt and kick return game, and then also at receiver.” Payton has described competition for return roles as ”wide open.” ”Our return game is kind of like `The Bachelor’ right now,” Payton said recently, referring to the popular reality TV series. ”We have about 12 contestants all with roses. We don’t know who our returner is going to be. And if she doesn’t like any of them, we will bring in more. ”They have to do anything they can to become the returner. … Limousine, whatever. Paris.” Payton has been emphasizing kickoff coverage and return games this training camp because of NFL rules changes for such plays affecting how teams can line up – and block- in an effort to reduce injurious, higher-speed collisions. Payton said the return game is not necessarily causing him more anxiety than usual, but stressed, ”We just want to be better in that area.” Meanwhile Joshua Garnett Jersey , Payton said he wants to see how a receiver with Floyd’s skill set and 6-foot-3 frame fits New Orleans’ offense, which has thrived in the past with big receiving targets such as the 6-4 Marques Colston, who retired after the 2015 season as the club’s career leader in receiving. Floyd is ”someone that’s big and we think we’ve got a good vision for what his strengths are,” Payton said. The 28-year-old Floyd played for Minnesota last season, but caught only 10 passes for 78 yards in 11 games after serving a four-game suspension by the NFL for using a banned substance. Floyd was among Arizona’s premier receivers earlier in his career, but was released by the club following a 2016 drunken driving arrest. Payton indicated Floyd would not have much room for error off the field. ”Obviously, when we bring players in, they understand the expectations,” Payton said. ”He’s someone that I’m sure understands it.” The decisions to bring in new receivers this week came in part because three who were on the active roster to open camp are injured. Travin Dural, a second-year pro out of LSU, is going on injured reserve. Payton says injured undrafted rookies Josh Smith and Eldridge Massington have been waived. ”It’s a hard position group to be in camp with, with a lot of guys not practicing,” Payton said. ”That’s just how it is.” The Saints also have added veteran offensive guard Don Barclay, who played in three games for Detroit last season and started 24 games with Green Bay over five seasons. — Adidas Seth Jones Jersey

The Texas Rangers are going to get another big league look at the top prospect they got in the trade for Yu Darvish last summer. Outfielder Willie Calhoun was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday for his first stint in the majors this season after the Rangers put outfielder Nomar Mazara on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right thumb. ”We felt like this is the right time for him come up here and get an opportunity to play on this team,” manager Jeff Banister said. ”It just got to a point where we felt it was best to put (Mazara) on the DL, let him go through the treatment, and get Willie up here.” Calhoun was hitting .306 with eight homers and 42 RBIs in 94 games for Round Rock this season Adam Butler Jersey , and hit .429 in 16 games this month. The 23-year-old finished last season with the Rangers, hitting .265 with one homer and four RBIs in his 13 games. Mazara injured the thumb on his glove hand on a defensive play last Saturday at Baltimore. He finished that game but didn’t play Sunday. The DL move is retroactive to Tuesday. ”We don’t have an exact feel for it. I know that since the injury, there has been improvement,” Banister said. Texas got Calhoun as part of the deal last July when Darvish was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Calhoun was primarily a second baseman in the Dodgers’ organization Riley Reiff Jersey , but has been playing in the outfield for the Rangers. Calhoun batted second as the designated hitter Friday night against the Cleveland Indians. Shin-Soo Choo, the Rangers lone All-Star, started in right field in Mazara’s usual spot instead of being the DH. Banister said Calhoun will be part of the outfield rotation, and will get some games as the designated hitter. The primary reason he was the DH on Friday night was because of a late-afternoon flight to join the team. ”All of the reports have been that he’s improved on defense Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Jersey ,” Banister said. ”He’s played a pretty steady routine, outfield defense.” Mazara has hit .272 with 15 homers and 58 RBIs in 91 games for the Rangers this season. 9. The rest of the NFL can dispense with any notions of luring Drew Brees away from the team – and city – where the star quarterback has flourished for more than a decade now. Two people familiar with the contract say Brees has agreed to a two-year Brett Favre Jersey , $50 million extension with the New Orleans Saints. The people say $27 million is guaranteed in the first year. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity on Tuesday because the agreement has not been announced. Brees, who turned 39 in January, was due to become a free agent on Wednesday. But he has said he wanted to finish his career in New Orleans, where he has played since 2006, won a Super Bowl and led what has been one of the most productive offenses in the NFL since he and coach Sean Payton arrived. ”I’ll be here as long as they’ll have me,” Brees said after last season ended in January. Now his return is assured to a team that came within one play of advancing to last season’s NFC championship game, falling at Minnesota when the Vikings scored an unlikely, 61-yard touchdown on the final play of their divisional-round NFC playoff game. Last season, Brees completed an NFL-record 72 percent of his passes for 4,334 yards and 23 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He ranked fourth in the NFL in yards passing and the Saints ranked second in the NFL in total offense. A second-round draft choice by San Diego in 2001, Brees has passed for 70,445 yards and 488 touchdowns in 17 seasons – 58,097 yards and 408 touchdowns in 12 seasons with New Orleans. He has passed for more than 5 Joey Bosa Jersey ,000 yards in a season five times, most recently in 2016. In 2011, Brees was at the helm of an offense that gained an NFL-record 7,474 yards. By the time Brees’ new contract expires, he could very well be the NFL’s all-time leader in yards and touchdowns passing. Currently, Peyton Manning holds those marks with 71,940 yards and 539 touchdowns. Brett Favre also is ahead of Brees – for now – with 71, 838 yards and 508 TDs passing. Brees has been New Orleans’ franchise player during the franchise’s greatest era, which has been highlighted by a Super Bowl championship in the 2009 season and five other playoff seasons. He arrived when his NFL future was uncertain, as was the future of Hurricane Katrina-ravaged New Orleans. Coming off throwing-shoulder surgery, Brees led the Saints – who had gone 3-13 the year before he arrived – to their first NFC title game. In the process, Brees and the Saints became a symbol of New Orleans’ resurgence after the storm that flooded 80 percent of the city, flourishing together during the past decade-plus of recovery. ”Certainly Trey Flowers Jersey , the relationship with this city will always play a strong role in me wanting to be here and … wanting to finish my career here,” Brees said. — In the Alpine ski race that Switzerland loves most of all, Beat Feuz gave the home team yet another victory in the Lauberhorn downhill on Saturday. Racing first, Feuz was watched by the Swiss president and 35,000 fans, setting a time on the longest World Cup course of 4.27 kilometers (2.65 miles) that only Aksel Lund Svindal could threaten. Svindal wore the No. 3 bib and led at four of the five time splits, but the big Norwegian finished 0.18 seconds behind Feuz’s 2 minutes, 26.50 seconds. ”I’m very happy with the second place,” said Svindal, who watched Feuz’s run on television at the start house overlooked by the Eiger and Jungfrau mountains. ”I kind of figured it would be a tough one to beat.” Feuz punched the air with both fists in the leader’s box on seeing Svindal’s time – sensing a 62-man race that would take another two hours to complete was effectively over after eight minutes. ”A fantastic day, unbelievable. When Aksel came down, I knew mine was a good race,” said Feuz Manti Te'o Jersey , who also won the world championships gold medal on home snow, at St. Moritz last February. Matthias Mayer of Austria was third, 0.67 behind Feuz. It gave the storied race a podium of the world champion, flanked by the most consistent downhill racer of the past decade, and the 2014 Olympic champion. Even fourth place was taken by Hannes Reichelt of Austria, who had his streak of five straight podium finishes at Wengen broken. When Reichelt won in 2015, he beat Feuz into second. Feuz also won at Wengen in 2012, and the Swiss team has now won five of the past nine editions. With his second downhill win this season, Feuz closed the gap on Svindal who leads the season-long standings. The 30-year-old Swiss previously won at Lake Louise, Canada, in November when Mayer and Svindal were also on the podium. Svindal extended an impressive streak of top-three finishes in each of five World Cup downhills this season in his latest comeback from serious injuries and surgery. ”I can’t train as much,” said the 35-year-old Svindal who took silver in the 2010 Olympic downhill. ”So I’m very happy that I’m able to pull it out for the races and make it happen.” On a clear and cold day, the race was run under blue skies with sun lighting much of the course. Feuz and Svindal were rewarded for choosing low numbers for the 12:30 p.m. local time (1130 GMT) start. World Cup rules let the top 10-ranked downhill racers pick an odd-numbered bib from Nos. 1 through 19. Mayer started No. 11 John Miller Jersey , and said the snow had become ”sticky” and slower in the sun-bathed upper section. The fastest speed was recorded by Reichelt, wearing No. 19, who clocked 147.5 kph (almost 92 mph) on a straight section two minutes into his run. Still, the Austrian veteran’s chance was gone after dropping a full second behind Feuz in the top half. Svindal lost time at halfway going through the S-shaped turns where he grazed his head against safety nets and exited at just 70.7 kph (44 mph). ”It’s one of those old-school turns that’s almost impossible to do with the speed you carry,” he said, revealing his helmet was marked blue from ”burned rubber.” A festive day included a pre-race fly-past by military jet fighters escorting a Swiss airlines jumbo. The host nation’s president, Alain Berset, watched in a public duty days before world leaders gather in Switzerland at Davos, where he is scheduled to meet U.S. President Donald Trump. ”It’s really magnificent,” Berset told The Associated Press of Feuz’s win. ”It’s the biggest downhill race in the world for us obviously.” Adidas Tyler Seguin Jersey
  10. WASHINGTON — The Washington Nationals will go for their third straight win over the Miami Marlins on Saturday night behind ace Max Scherzer. After a team meeting on Wednesday Kevin King Jersey , the Nationals (44-43) have posted back-to-back emotional victories over the Marlins (36-54). On Thursday, it was an historic comeback from a 9-0 deficit for a 14-12 win and Friday was a walk-off homer from pinch-hitter Mark Reynolds leading off the bottom of the ninth inning. “We’re all human, so having a walk-off win everyone’s in a little better mood coming to the ballpark the next day, have a little more giddy up,” outfielder Adam Eaton said. Nationals manager Dave Martinez admitted he was looking for someone to end Friday’s game with one swing. “Thought about pinch-hitting Michael (A. Taylor). He gets on, he can steal, but then what?” Martinez said. “So I said, ‘Hey, we need somebody who can hit a home run right now and Mark is the perfect guy.'” Reynolds’ homer on a 3-1 pitch off Kyle Barraclough erased the bad taste of Washington’s not scoring with the bases loaded and no outs in the eighth and rewarded the work of a bullpen that provided four scoreless innings. The Marlins had all kinds of chances against Gio Gonzalez, who threw 114 pitches in five innings, but the Nationals turned three double plays and Gonzalez struck out Justin Bour and Garrett Cooper with the bases loaded in the fifth after walking in the tying run. “I thought our offense did a pretty good job with Gio Emmanuel Lamur Jersey ,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. “We just didn’t really capitalize.” Scherzer (10-5, 2.16) is looking for his first win since June 5. A loser in four of his last five starts, he has allowed only 10 earned runs while the Nationals have been shut out three times. In a 4-3 loss to the Red Sox on Monday night, Scherzer’s only mistake came on a bases-loaded double by friend and former Detroit rotation mate Rick Porcello. “That’s where you’ve got to be better, no matter what,” Scherzer told mlb.com. “You’ve got to execute pitches against everybody. Just because it’s a pitcher doesn’t mean you can ever let up. Not saying I did, but the onus, the focus is on every single pitch. You’ve got to execute.” Scherzer went six innings and struck out nine to become the 11th pitcher in MLB history with at least 1,000 strikeouts with two clubs. He leads the National League with 174 strikeouts. He’s 8-3 with a 3.39 ERA versus the Marlins in his career. LHP Wei-Yin Chen (2-5, 5.55) starts for the Marlins and has a 9.85 ERA in seven road starts this season. Chen’s last two outings have been very good. He hass thrown 12 innings — six each against the Tampa Bay Rays and Arizona Diamondbacks — and allowed one earned and eight hits while striking out 10 and walking one. He allowed one unearned run in no-decision against the Rays his last time out. “I think it was the life on my fastball,” Chen told mlb.com patrick mahomes authentic jersey , via his interpreter, on what was working against Tampa Bay. “Tonight, sometimes I didn’t get my fastball to an ideal location, but I was still able to jam them, get them to get weak contact.” Against Washington, Chen is 1-5 with a 4.15 ERA in nine career appearances. Three experienced coordinators, including two with ties to new general manager Dave Gettleman, have been added to Pat Shurmur's coaching staff with the New York Giants. The hirings were announced Thursday, although most had been widely known in recent weeks. The offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings, Shurmur was hired on Jan. 22 to rebuild the Giants after a disastrous 3-13 season. Coach Ben McAdoo fired in early December after less than two years on the job. Mike Shula will be the offensive coordinator and work with the quarterbacks. James Bettcher is the defensive coordinator, while Thomas McGaughey will lead the special teams. Shula and McGaughey worked with Gettleman in Carolina. Both were fired after last season Caleb Sturgis Jersey , having served the past five and two years, respectively, as coordinators. Bettcher spent the last five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, the final three as defensive coordinator. 11. ENGLEWOOD Kellen Winslow Jersey , Colo. (AP) — John Elway’s much-celebrated 2018 draft class is turning heads at the Broncos‘ training camp, particularly ex-SMU receiver Courtland Sutton, a second-round pick whose spectacular catches have become a daily occurrence. Big applauses also greet draft picks Bradley Chubb, Josey Jewell and DaeSean Hamilton along with another rookie who went undrafted. Phillip Lindsay , a 5-foot-8, 180-pound running back who was born in Denver, grew up in adjacent Aurora, attended Denver South High School and the University of Colorado and is drawing praises from coaches and teammates. “No. 2 has shown explosion,” coach Vance Joseph said, referring to the rookie by his jersey number. “He’s a shifty little back,” said linebacker Todd Davis. “He can definitely make people miss.” “We’re definitely going to have some things planned for Phillip,” predicted Von Miller Trey Flowers Jersey , who sees Lindsay carving a niche in a diverse backfield that includes veteran Devontae Booker, second-year speedster De’Angelo Henderson and rookie draft picks Royce Freeman of Oregon and David Williams of Arkansas. Lindsay is leading the way in plays that draw reactions from the crowd. “Guys like that in the league, you just can’t cover them,” Miller said. “They’re just assets to the offense. You have to have a back like that and we definitely have one.” Uninvited to the NFL combine and bypassed on draft weekend, Lindsay signed a contract with his hometown team that would pay him $480,000 this season and included a $15,000 signing bonus. By comparison, Freeman’s signing bonus was $997,020 and Williams’ was $93,900. A Colorado alum himself, Joseph was no stranger to Lindsay’s talents. “It’s hard to believe he didn’t go to the combine,” Joseph said. “Obviously he’s a Buff Brandon Fusco Jersey , so I’ve watched Phillip for three years as a starter in a major conference. He was a great player. We were all surprised he didn’t go to the combine, and obviously signing him as a free agent was tough because we drafted two backs. We pursued him heavy and he stayed home.” Lindsay’s college coach, Mike MacIntyre, said he has no doubt his former pupil will make it in the NFL because of his versatility, tenacity and willingness to make the most of any morsel of playing time he gets. “In college he covered kicks, returned kicks, he could play on all four big phases,” MacIntyre said. “And then he’s a guy that can catch the ball really well, so he could be a third-down back. He’s a guy that could block well, could run well, so when you take him to the game, even if he doesn’t play a lot of running back early Jack Crawford Jersey , he’s going to play a lot of plays for you. So he’s valuable for you as a coaching staff and a team. “He’ll be the special team coaches’ dream, I promise you that.” MacIntyre got that right. “I love Phillip,” Broncos special teams coordinator Tom McMahon declared. “Phillip works his butt off.” He garnered the nickname “Tasmanian Devil” in college because of the frenetic energy he brings to the team as the undersized underdog he’s been all his life. “I always bring a chip on my shoulder, not because I’m mad but because I know what I have to do,” Lindsay said. “For me, I’m a running back that’s 5-8 and 190 pounds and I have to go and get my respect for the NFL now.” It’s nothing new. “I mean, since when have I not been the underdog?” Lindsay said. NOTES: In honor of owner Pat Bowlen and his wife, Annabel, both of whom are fighting Alzheimer’s, the Broncos handed out purple towels to their fans and wore purple-and-gray T-shirts Saturday to raise funds and awareness of the disease. … The Broncos will hold a 45-play scrimmage Sunday. When Commissioner Roger Goodell got his new contract, a theory emerged that, in exchange for giving in Cassius Marsh Jersey , Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would get something in return. Specially, it was believed Jones would get real change in the layer of management just below the Commissioner. Some of the changes made since Goodell got his new contract suggest that a connection indeed exists. The recent deposition testimony of Jones indicates that he wanted — and got — the ouster of P.R. chief Joe Lockhart. 鈥淚 was proud to see him go,” Jones said under oath, via Andrew Beaton of the Wall Street Journal. The fact that Jones would feel pride implies that he also feels responsible. Otherwise, what would he be proud about? (Example: Who would say, “I was proud to see the sun rise this morning”?) Lockhart apparently sealed his fate by engaging the President after the notorious Alabama “get that son of a bitch off the field” comment, calling the President’s comments “divisive” and making a snarky reference to “locker-room talk.” Of course, the NFL is now suffering from the absence of a replacement for Lockhart, as demonstrated by last week’s anthem-policy alteration, which took a minor problem that not many people were talking about and turned it into a major problem that everyone has been talking about, and that has angered people on both sides of the debate. Jones would likely say that it’s better to have no in-house P.R. chief than to have Lockhart. Last week’s events would tend to say otherwise. Adidas Mark Stone Jersey
  12. Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham didn’t play in the team’s preseason opener Cameron Erving Jersey , so he got his first chance to work against someone other than his teammates during Tuesday’s joint practice against the Lions. He spent some of the day matched up with Lions cornerback Darius Slay, who has faced Beckham in each of the last two regular seasons. Slay didn’t see where last year’s fractured ankle created a difference between the player he faced in those games and the one on the field now. “He looks like he’s going,” Slay said DeShone Kizer Jersey , via NJ.com. “He’s catching the rock, and running the rock. He’s always been explosive. He’s never going to lose that, except when he turns 50 George Blanda Jersey , I suppose. But, he’s always been explosive. Other than that, he’s Odell. That’s just it.” Slay’s report is good news for a Giants offense that missed Beckham a great deal last season. Police say several items have been returned after they were stolen from Chicago Bears first-round draft pick Roquan Smith’s car in Georgia Bryan Anger Jersey , but not his Bears-issued iPad. Athens-Clarke County Police public information officer Epifanio Rodriguez tells the Chicago Tribune a fingerprint found in the linebacker’s car identified the suspect and detectives recovered some of the property, but not the iPad. The Bears said Monday that they remotely wiped the password-protected tablet. Rodriguez says Smith was ”ecstatic” when detectives notified him. INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Andrew Luck traipses across the locker room with a little extra pep in his step these days. It’s obvious from the smile that the Indianapolis Colts‘ starting quarterback is content to put on his shoulder pads, prepare for practice and get ready to make his first regular-season start in more than 20 months. Sure, there were times Luck questioned when or even if this day would come Ethan Pocic Jersey , whether he could regain the Pro Bowl form from his first three pro seasons after shoulder surgery and whether those regular pregame jitters he craves would again be part of his game-day routine. Now, just a few days away from facing Cincinnati’s defense, Luck looks and sounds like the confident leader everyone expects him to be this season. “I think everybody knows how great a quarterback he is. He’s been out for a little while so I think they’re probably waiting to see if he’s back, healthy, ready to go,” kicker Adam Vinatieri said. “Everything that we’ve seen this offseason through minicamp, training camp tells me he’s ready to rock and roll and be the Andrew we all know he can be.” Luck understands just how heavily scrutinized these first few games will be. He anticipates a litany of questions about his health, the subtle changes he’s made to his throwing motion after working out with former major league pitcher Tom House, his ability to bounce up after big hits and whether using the sidelines and baseball slides will change his approach to the game. After all, it was the hit he took from behind in the third preseason game that caused a minor foot injury that forced him out of two practices last week. But the fact he is talking about his foot rather than lingering pain in his right shoulder certainly is a sign of progress. “Certainly not as smooth (a recovery) as you’d like,” he said Wednesday, referring to his recovery from the surgery on a partially torn labrum in January 2017. “There have been hiccups and there have been challenges and hurdles to go over and frustrating times, and as a team, too. But I feel like we’ve always managed to find a way through it.” The darkest moments appeared to come after Luck shut down his throwing regimen and went on injured reserve last fall. He spent several weeks seeking additional opinions to determine whether a second procedure was necessary. Once assured nothing was structurally wrong Ronnie Lott Jersey , Luck headed to the Netherlands in November where he worked for more than a month working with a trusted trainer in relative anonymity. When he returned to the team complex in late December, Luck was clearly a frustrated man. “There was a time, probably a couple weeks into being away from here, in early December that was pretty difficult for me to sort of see the positive in things,” he said on Dec. 29. “You get a little emotionally tired. I am, I think, a little emotionally tired from the whole process. But that’s all right.” Teammates understood. “It’s a lonely feeling in this league when you get hurt and you can’t be out there with your teammates, for your coaches, for your fans,” tight end Jack Doyle said. “So when I think he got back around us and practicing and just playing football again, you really saw him come back to normal, I guess.” It took more than five months to see actual results. Luck resumed throwing footballs in May, a secret he kept by swearing first-year coach Frank Reich to silence. Then, on the second day of Indy’s three-day minicamp Luck made a surprise return and began flinging footballs around the practice field for the first time since October. Suddenly Roger Craig Jersey , the conversations changed throughout the city. Reich and general manager Chris Ballard outlined a training camp plan that called for Luck to mimic his regular-season routine by throwing three times per week in non-game settings. Luck’s brief appearance in the preseason opener at Seattle eased most doubts about whether he’d start the season opener. His ability to survive big hits in each of the first three preseason games proved to fans, coaches and critics he was healthy. And if any additional assurances were needed, teammates found them in Luck’s demeanor on and off the field. “Seeing him finally come out in camp and just have that confidence back, it really is a lot of fun,” center Ryan Kelly said. “Being able to laugh and joke around, I’m sure a year ago even if he had been playing he didn’t have that in him. So it’s kind of like a reset button for him and it’s fun.” Now Luck must deal with yet another test. He faces a Bengals defense that includes sacks artists such as Geno Atkins, Michael Johnson, Carlos Dunlap and Carl Lawson with the possibility of playing behind two new tackles. Longtime left tackle Anthony Castonzo did limited work in practice Wednesday and his status for Sunday’s game remains unclear. Reich said he’s decided on a starter at right tackle, but won’t make an announcement till Sunday. Still, Luck isn’t fretting. He knows he’s endured tougher predicaments and experienced more mentally challenging moments over the past 20 months while rediscovering his passion for the game. And he can’t wait for the moment, Saturday night or Sunday morning, when his stomach tightens and those nerves start firing. “I think those butterflies will always be there,” he said with a smile. “It’s a special feeling and I’ve missed that feeling.” Womens Anthony Averett Jersey
  14. The Giants have been busy remaking their linebacker corps this offseason Jarius Wright Jersey , and they’re not finished. According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com, the Giants are expected to sign veteran free agent Connor Barwin. He worked with Giants linebackers coach Bill McGovern in Philadelphia, giving him some familiarity. Barwin recently said he didn’t plan to sign with a team unless there was a chance to win a Super Bowl, so he’s obviously a proponent of sticking with an aging quarterback and using the second pick in the draft on a running back. The 31-year-old Barwin had five sacks last year for the Rams, after a solid run with the Eagles. The Giants are converting to a 3-4 defense under new coordinator James Bettcher Shaq Lawson Jersey , and traded for inside linebacker Alec Ogletree earlier this offseason to help with the transition. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Mike McGlinchey’s first test as an NFL tackle came against one of the league’s top pass rushers in Dallas’ DeMarcus Lawrence. Things will only get tougher this week when McGlinchey must contend with three-time former AP Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney when the 49ers travel to Houston for two days of practice against the Texans before an exhibition game on Saturday. “It’s going to be fun. It’s definitely going to be fun,” McGlinchey said. “That’s why you play in the NFL, to play against the biggest and the baddest dudes and they have three or four of them. It’s going to be pretty fun. I’m more worried about the heat monster than those guys. As long as I can stay upright and not lose 15 pounds in practice, I’ll come out a winner.” McGlinchey and the 49ers were pleased with his exhibition debut against the Cowboys when he was matched up with Lawrence — who tied for second in the NFL with 14 1/2 sacks last year — on the first drive and stayed for two more to get as much experience as possible before the start of the regular season. McGlinchey mostly held his own Robert Alford Jersey , although he was upset about his technique on a bull rush move by Lawrence that led to a hit on quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. “I was really happy with Mike,” coach Kyle Shanahan said. “First game for him. That’s why we left him in there a little bit longer. By no means was it perfect, but it was very easy to see that the game is not too big for him. He’s very comfortable out there. He looks like the player he looked in college when we studied him, how he’s looked in practice. He got out there and didn’t change. He’s a guy who I think gets better as the game goes on because he is talented, but he also is very smart and doesn’t get overwhelmed with things. When he does make a mistake Jason Pierre-Paul Jersey , he usually learns from it.” The 49ers are counting on big things this season from McGlinchey after drafting him ninth overall out of Notre Dame in April and then trading last year’s starter at right tackle, Trent Brown, to New England. San Francisco immediately put McGlinchey in the starting lineup in the offseason and is grooming him to eventually take over for stalwart Joe Staley on the left side. The two have struck up an immediate friendship based in part on a shared history. Staley’s college coach at Central Michigan was Brian Kelly, who later took over at Notre Dame. Several of Kelly’s assistants coached Staley in college and used him as an example at Notre Dame. McGlinchey said that because the two approach the game in a similar way, he has peppered Staley with 20 to 30 questions each day about how to excel as a tackle in the NFL. “It’s been great Duke Riley Jersey ,” he said. “I really can’t think of myself being any luckier than I am because I do ask a lot of questions. I don’t really leave him alone. He doesn’t ever turn me away. He doesn’t ever say shut up or anything like that so he’s there for me. He’s there to help me with anything I see.” It’s become a bit of a running joke how close the two have become the past few months with Staley calling McGlinchey his best friend and little brother. “The reason why is I see so much potential,” Staley said. “He has the absolute right mindset to succeed in the NFL. The guy is really hungry to learn every single day. He comes to meetings and asks the right questions and picks up the playbook really well. I just see all the potential he has. I think he has nothing but great things ahead in his career. I look forward to being a mentor to a younger guy and teaching him things I’ve learned and hopefully he can surpass me some day.” NOTES: The 49ers signed RB Alfred Morris to a one-year deal to add depth with Jerick McKinnon (calf) and Matt Breida (shoulder) injured. … OL Alan Knott was waived to make room on the roster. 15. Philadelphia police say few arrests have been made amid celebrations following the Eagles’ NFC championship game victory. The arrests came as thousands of fans took to the streets following the Eagles’ 38-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night. The Eagles advanced to their first Super Bowl since 2005 Marcus Gilchrist Jersey , against the AFC champion New England Patriots. After Sunday’s game, huge crowds gathered around the city. Police say one man is accused of punching a police horse and a mounted officer who was trying to disperse a crowd in a stadium parking lot before the game. Police also reported two arrests for disorderly conduct and three arrests for counterfeit ticket sales. Earlier in the day Pierre Garcon Jersey , workers who jokingly called themselves the ”Crisco Cops” greased light poles to prevent fans from climbing them. Giants safety Landon Collins said that offensive tackle Ereck Flowers has stayed away from the team’s offseason program because of hurt feelings. Giants coach Pat Shurmur thinks Collins should have kept that to himself. Shurmur said today that Collins shouldn’t be talking about Flowers, and that he wants his players focused on doing their own jobs Marcus Cannon Jersey , not on anyone else’s issues. “That’s not for Landon to talk about,” Shurmur said. “I don’t think our players should be talking about another players’ situation.” Shurmur said that although Flowers hasn’t been with the team David Andrews Jersey , he has been in contact with the team. “We’ve been in contact with Ereck. I heard he’s in good shape,” Shurmur said. “I can’t wait for him to be here. Like I said Nick Nelson Jersey , there were some things he did last year that were really good. I look forward to him being here at some point and working with him.” So Shurmur sounds less concerned about the absence of Flowers than about other players talking about the absence of Flowers. 16. Helping Todd Bowles get a Super Bowl ring was just the beginning of Doug Williams' lifelong assistance for the New York Jets head coach. Their relationship goes back to 1986 when they were Washington Redskins teammates and neighbors. They lived down the street from one another about a mile and a half apart Howie Long Jersey , and their connection has only grown closer in the three decades since. Bringing his Jets to Redskins training camp for joint workouts with his former team has brought back fond memories for Bowles, who played seven of his eight NFL seasons with Washington and won the Super Bowl when Williams was MVP in January 1988. His ties to Williams, the Redskins' senior vice president of player personnel, helped make the joint workouts happen, and Bowles said he owes his ex-teammate for putting him on the road to becoming Jets coach. "He got me into coaching," Bowles said. "He gave me my first job at Morehouse College. I was the D coordinator. We remain very good friends to this day." Bowles will coach against the Redskins in Thursday night's preseason game, and he's still not revealing if rookie Sam Darnold will start over Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater after the third overall draft pick's impressive debut and work this week. Richmond wasn't the site of Redskins training camp when Bowles played, and FedEx Field isn't the same as old RFK Stadium, but simply being around the Redskins took the former safety down memory lane. "Just seeing the burgundy and gold has been great," Bowles said. "Obviously the Super Bowl, but it's more so the guys I played with: the Darrell Greens, the Charles Manns, the Dexter Manleys, the Wilber Marshalls Cameron Wake Jersey , the Alvin Waltons and all those guys I played with are really the fondest memories I have." Training camp looked like a reunion from Washington's Super Bowl era with Bowles in Jets green, Williams overseeing practice and the likes of Darrell Green and Brian Mitchell around. It has been 25 years since they were teammates, yet Mitchell said Bowles is "the same guy he was when he played." It has been a long time, though, and a long road for Bowles to get here. Williams gave him a good push. The two scouted the same area when Bowles was with the Green Bay Packers in player personnel and Williams worked for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the mid-1990s, and Williams made his Bowles the defensive coordinator at Morehouse College as one of his first hires in 1997. Bowles followed Williams to Grambling State before bouncing around as a defensive assistant for seven NFL teams. Williams moved into the front office, but Bowles stuck it out and at age 54 is going into his third season as Jets coach. He doesn't feel like he'd be in that spot without Williams, and the Jets certainly wouldn't have been practicing with the Redskins if not for their relationship. "Just coming back seeing Doug is great because Doug was very close to me," Bowles said. "I talk to Doug all the time, here and not here. He had a part in (arranging the workouts). He had a big part in it." Bowles credits Williams for putting him on this path, but his appreciation for the Redskins extends to two Hall of Famers: general manager Bobby Beathard and coach Joe Gibbs. They signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Temple in 1986 and gave him the starting free safety job in his second year. "They signed me and they gave me a chance, so playing for the Redskins is something I'll never forget," Bowles said. "They gave me a chance to meet a lot of people. They gave me a chance at a career that I probably otherwise wouldn't have had. So it's always going to be a special place." Notes: Bowles was angry that receiver Terrelle Pryor revealed he broke his ankle in May. Bowles said Pryor should keep his mouth shut and told him as much. Pryor is not expected to play Thursday against his most recent team. Dustin Byfuglien busted out his dance moves for a little celebration of his latest big goal, which may have caught many people by surprise. Not his teammates. ”He’s so loose before games Linval Joseph Jersey ,” Winnipeg center Bryan Little said. ”He’s a joker, definitely the prankster on the team. It’s strange for me to see him talking to you guys in front of the camera. It’s like, `That’s not who I know.”’ The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Byfuglien is making a big impression on the NHL playoffs on both ends of the ice as the Jets have muscled their way to within one win of Winnipeg’s first berth in the Western Conference Final. Timely goals, rugged defense, leadership – it’s all part of his game. He dropped jaws during the second-round series against the Predators by literally manhandling two Nashville players, one in each hand. His journey back to the postseason has been a long one, but the 33-year-old Byfuglien has made Winnipeg his home and is a key reason the Jets are Canada’s last surviving team this postseason. The last Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup was Montreal in 1993, and the 25-year drought is a painful one in the home of hockey. Winnipeg captain Blake Wheeler considers Byfuglien a ”great equalizer” and unlike anybody else in the NHL. ”Having him on our team gives us an advantage no matter who we play,” Wheeler said. ”That’s the type of player he is and from Game 1 of the playoffs, he has just dominated. You can’t stop it.” Byfuglien is making the most of his deepest postseason run since helping Chicago win the Stanley Cup in 2010, Not only has he been a strong counter to Nashville by outplaying a group often considered the NHL’s best top four defensemen, Byfuglien is leading all defensemen this postseason with four goals. He’s also tied with Boston’s Torey Krug for most points with 12 while skating an average of 26 minutes, 25 seconds a game. Byfuglien started the Jets’ rally in Game 3 against Nashville from a 3-0 deficit by scoring the first goal and his tying goal prompted his little dance. He wound up with the game-winning goal in Winnipeg’s 6-2 victory Saturday night that put the Jets on the verge of clinching only their second series – all this postseason. ”What makes him unique is he can Davon House Jersey , I don’t know if `take over’ is right, but he can make an impact in a game in just about every single way possible,” Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice said. ”He can defend, he can play real physical, nobody wants to drop the gloves with him, and then there’s an offensive side, it’s a perfectly placed shot, quick hands, all the other things that he can do offensively.” And Chicago gave all that potential up in 2010. Byfuglien switched from defense to forward for the Blackhawks and scored three game-winning goals in a sweep of San Jose in the Western Conference finals for the franchise’s first Stanley Cup Final since 1992. He had a hat trick against Vancouver in the conference semifinals. But the Blackhawks were strapped for salary cap space after contract extensions for Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith on top of pricey deals for Marian Hossa and Brian Campbell. Byfuglien was traded away to the then-Atlanta Thrashers, a franchise that relocated to Winnipeg in 2011. ”There’s only one Dustin Byfuglien, and you want him on your team,” Little said. ”You can’t imagine what it would be like playing against him. There’s only one of him. You can’t really compare him to anyone out there.” Winnipeg has become home to Byfuglien. The town is just 115 miles as the crow flies from where he grew up in Roseau, Minnesota. Since the franchise moved to Winnipeg Cortez Kennedy Jersey , Byfuglien married, and has three children. The Jets rewarded him in February 2016 with a five-year, $38 million contract to make him a key piece of the Jets’ future. He just isn’t a big talker. Asked where his dance came from in Game 2, Byfuglien said he didn’t know. He sure is talking to his teammates, trying to share his experience from that 2010 Cup run and offering advice on how to handle what they hope is a two-month run. ”We’ve obviously talked as a group,” Byfuglien said. ”It’s not going to be an easy ride. It’s just take one game at a time, one shift at a time, and just believe in each other.” Having Big Buff around certainly provides a confidence boost, ”Any time he’s on the ice, it’s dangerous,” Little said. — Robert Williams Jersey

  19. The retirement of Joe Thomas left a gaping hole at left tackle for the Cleveland Browns. Left guard Joel Bitonio is willing Alan Page Jersey , but not necessarily eager to succeed his close friend at the position. "If they want me to do that, like, cool, whatever makes the Browns better," Bitonio said. "But I think left tackle is the toughest spot on the line, and after playing left guard for four years, going on five now, it would definitely be different. "I don't think it's a thing where I have to volunteer for the spot, but if we get down the line and something needs to happen, we'll see what happens there." Though Bitonio isn't a household name outside of Cleveland, he is one of a handful of known quantities on a team that went winless in 2017 and is 1-31 in two seasons under coach Hue Jackson. The 6-foot-4, 305-pounder was a second alternate for the Pro Bowl and did not miss a play last year, helping the Browns average 4.46 yards per rush to rank sixth in the NFL. Offensive line coach Bob Wylie acknowledged that bumping Bitonio, an All-Mountain West left tackle at Nevada, to the outside is tempting, but not palatable because it would simultaneously create a weakness at guard. "The state of the left tackle is our state of the union," Wylie said. "But (moving Bitonio) is the last option. If you were going to go from A down Andrew Adams Jersey , that would be Z. That would be Z." Thomas was the face of the franchise for 11 seasons, earning 10 Pro Bowl selections and playing 10,363 consecutive snaps before suffering a career-ending torn left triceps last Oct. 22 against Tennessee. Third-year pro Shon Coleman has the first shot to fill his shoes, while second-rounder Austin Corbett and former No. 2 overall pick Greg Robinson are in the mix. Coleman was pulled off the field Sunday during practice and received an audible scolding by Jackson. Center JC Tretter, right guard Kevin Zeitler and Bitonio each expressed hope that one of the top three candidates can win the job and keep their three-man interior unit intact. "I'm excited to work with them again and, hopefully, be a dominant inside group," said Bitonio, a second-round selection by Cleveland in 2014. "I've become really good friends with JC and Kevin, so we're kind of bonding and I think the sky is the limit. We're continuing to grow together." Tretter said the uncertainty at left tackle hasn't affected Bitonio during training camp, nor does he expect it to, because he is a "real pro." Jackson wants to make a decision before the Browns' third preseason game on Aug. 23 against the Eagles, putting Coleman on the hot seat to produce or force the staff to contemplate option Z. "I know that Joel will do anything for the football team, but hopefully we do not have to go to that," Jackson said. "But if we do, we do. Once we get a feel for what we have there, then as a group we've got to make a decision on how to continue to move forward." Bitonio is hoping for the best Orlando Brown Jr. Jersey , and hoping to stay where he feels most comfortable. All 47 of his NFL games have been played as a starting left guard. "Right now, I'm really focused on playing left guard and trying to get whoever is playing next to me ready to play left tackle," he said. "I think anything else is something that's pretty far down the line." NOTES Rookie QB Baker Mayfield impressed Jackson with several sharp passes. "Baker is deadly accurate with the ball," the coach said. "He's an outstanding listener who has been everything a quarterback can be for an organization so far." . DE Myles Garrett, the top overall pick in 2017, and RB Duke Johnson were given the day off, along with LB Jamie Collins. WR Corey Coleman also was scheduled to rest, but declined the offer. . Former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel attended the late afternoon practice. The Portland Trail Blazers fought their way through a pressure-packed playoff race to earn home-court advantage in a series, then lost it in one game. The Toronto Raptors know that problem all too well, so they want to take advantage of playing from ahead for a change. They try for their first 2-0 playoff series lead ever Tuesday night against Washington, while the Trail Blazers try to even things up in against the New Orleans Pelicans. Boston and Milwaukee play the other Game 2 on Tuesday after the Celtics pulled out a 113-107 overtime victory on Sunday. The No. 3 Trail Blazers were the highest-seeded team to lose so far, falling 97-95 on Saturday. Anthony Davis was dominant, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum were slow-starting, and the Pelicans got a couple big defensive plays down the stretch from Jrue Holiday to hold on after the Blazers nearly came back from a 19-point deficit. ”I think it puts some pressure on us,” Lillard said. ”You know, you come in with home court, the first two games on your floor and you lose the first one Alex Lewis Jersey , and now they’re saying in their locker room we got one, why not go get another one. And our job is to defend the home court. ”We’ve got to tighten up, come back sharper, and take care of home floor.” Toronto had lost Game 1 at home all six times it had home-court advantage in a series, part of an overall 10-game losing streak in series openers, before beating Washington 114-106 dropped on Saturday. Finally, the Raptors could enjoy the start of postseason play. ”And for me, this year is finally a year I can be happy watching other games and not be like `Damn, I lost Game 1,”’ point guard Kyle Lowry said. — Some things to know about Tuesday’s matchups: WIZARDS AT RAPTORS Toronto leads 1-0. Game 2, 7 P.M., NBA TV. NEED TO KNOW: Toronto’s only other 1-0 series lead was in the 2001 Eastern Conference semifinals against Philadelphia, which won Game 2 and ultimately the series in seven games. KEEP AN EYE ON: The 3-point line. The Raptors made a franchise-record 16 in the opener, twice as many as Washington for a 24-point advantage behind the arc. INJURY UPDATE: Raptors reserve Fred VanVleet (right shoulder) went through most of practice Monday after missing the opener but remains day to day. Lowry was fighting a cold but joked he was ”out tanning” Sunday during an ice storm. PRESSURE IS ON: Washington’s bench. The Wizards‘ reserves probably aren’t going to win the battle against Toronto’s highly productive second unit, but need to produce something more after getting next to nothing beyond Mike Scott’s 14 points in the opener. BUCKS AT CELTICS Boston leads 1-0. Game 2, 8 P.M., TNT. NEED TO KNOW: Giannis Antetokounmpo has scored 20 or more points in eight straight games against the Celtics after scoring 35 before fouling out in overtime of the opener. KEEP AN EYE ON: Boston’s balance. With Al Horford (24 points) Brian Poole Jersey , Terry Rozier (23), Marcus Morris (21) and Jaylen Brown (20), the Celtics had four 20-point scorers in a playoff game for the first time since Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Reggie Lewis and Brian Shaw did it in a 1991 game. Throw in Jayson Tatum’s 19 points, and the Bucks let too many players get hot in Game 1. INJURY UPDATE: Celtics coach Brad Stevens said Marcus Smart is getting some shots up and working on lower body and conditioning as much as he can, but has been told by the training staff that April 27 is the earliest the guard could begin basketball activity. ”We’re still a ways away from that and a lot of games away from that,” Stevens said. PRESSURE IS ON: Eric Bledsoe. Milwaukee needs more from its starting guard who had more combined fouls (6) and turnovers (5) than points (9) in a bit of a Game 1 dud. PELICANS AT TRAIL BLAZERS New Orleans leads 1-0. Game 2, 10:30 P.M., TNT. NEED TO KNOW: Anthony Davis had 35 points in the opener and has scored 25 or more in his first five postseason games. He can tie LeBron James for the second-longest streak to begin a career, behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 14 straight, according to Elias. KEEP AN EYE ON: Rajon Rondo. A 17-assist, eight-rebound opener was another reminder of how much the Pelicans’ point guard can elevate his game in the postseason. INJURY UPDATE: Portland’s Maurice Harkless is nearing a return from late-season left knee surgery, but may not be available until later in the series. PRESSURE IS ON: The Blazers’ backcourt. Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum combined to shoot just 13 for 41, and their three combined points on 1-for-15 shooting in the first half doomed Portland to a big hole from which it could not recover. — AP Sports Writer Kyle Hightower in Boston and freelance writer Ian Harrison in Toronto contributed to this report. — Authentic Womens Mike Gesicki Jersey
  20. The non-injury grievance filed by the NFL Players Association against the NFL over the league’s new anthem policy could result in an arbitrator rolling things back to the way they were before May. The discussions between the union and the league over the issue could lead to something even more significant: A permanent solution to the problem. But here’s the problem with that: It should have happened two years ago. The moment that Colin Kaepernick was spotted sitting during the anthem before a preseason game and the NFL acknowledged that the policy it created encouraged but didn’t require players to stand George Fant Jersey , the NFL should have engaged the NFLPA to come up with a new policy. But the NFL presumably didn’t want to have to make any concessions to fix the problem that it (i.e., one of its lawyers) created by using the word “should” instead of “must” before “stand.” If someone had had the foresight in August 2016 to realize how the situation could unravel for the league, the concession would have been made then. Because now the union is in position to leverage an even greater concession — especially if the grievance prevails. And the grievance could prevail. The argument is that the right to protest existed (as created and reiterated by the league) before May, and that the league took that employee right away without engaging in bargaining. Remember when a couple of reporters working for the NFL tried to call the new policy a “compromise“? Remember the reaction that there can be no “compromise” if the players are shut out of the process? The grievance, if successful, will force the league to make the compromise that didn’t happen in May, that should have happened in August 2016 Andre Tippett Jersey , and that needs to happen if the league wants to solve this problem once and for all. Carlos Dunlap walked into the Cincinnati Bengals locker room and noticed a group of videographers and reporters waiting by his locker in a far corner of the room. ”Y’all looking for me?” he said. Indeed, Dunlap was the focus on the first day of mandatory minicamp after skipping most of the voluntary offseason workouts in Cincinnati. The ninth-year defensive end chose to work out on his own while his agent negotiated a new deal with the team, costing him $300,000 in bonuses. Rather than skip the minicamp as well, he decided to catch up on what he’s missed with a new defense being implemented. Plus, he’s encouraged by the progress made on a deal that would keep him in Cincinnati well beyond 2018. ”There are no hard feelings between any of us,” Dunlap said Tuesday. ”This is the process. Both sides understand it.” Dunlap is a key to the Bengals’ hopes of a turnaround this season. They slid to 18th in the league overall and 30th against the run last season while missing out on the playoffs for a second straight year. Coordinator Paul Guenther left to join Jon Gruden with the Raiders James White Jersey , and Teryl Austin was hired as his replacement. Dunlap has been a game-changer in Cincinnati with his ability to rush the quarterback and bat down passes. He’s second on the team’s career sacks list with 64 , and he’s been the best lineman in the league at batting down passes over the past few seasons. Coaches have been trying to get him to be more consistent not only from game-to-game, but within games as well. His number of plays could diminish this season as Cincinnati integrates some of its young pass rushers into the line rotation. Carl Lawson had 8 sacks last season, the most by an NFL rookie and one sack shy of Dunlap’s team rookie record from 2010. ”They’re very adamant about having a big rotation, and I would too with all this talent on the D-line,” Dunlap said. Dunlap and tackle Geno Atkins have anchored the line since 2010. Atkins leads the NFL in sacks by an interior lineman over the past few years. Dunlap had a career-high 13 sacks in 2015, but slipped to 8 the following season and 7 last year Art Shell Jersey , third on the team. By working out on his own the past few months, he missed a chance to learn the system implemented by Austin. He said the biggest change is in terminology. ”They’re pretty much similar in scheme – minor tweaks here or there – but they’re things we already had in our defense,” Dunlap said. ”So it’s not like a full spring cleaning or anything.” Coach Marvin Lewis said Dunlap won’t get much time on the field during the three-day minicamp because he’s missed so much practice time. ”It’s a chance for him to get a preview of what will happen during training camp,” Lewis said. ”He’ll get very limited repetitions (in minicamp) just because these guys have been working here for an amount of weeks and he hasn’t been here.” WOODSIDE CHARGED: Rookie quarterback Logan Woodside – a seventh-round pick from Toledo – practiced Tuesday after arraignment in northern Kentucky. He was charged over the weekend with speeding and driving under the influence in Bellevue, Kentucky, according to information in his case file in Campbell County District Court. The Bengals said they’re aware of the matter and gathering information. Lewis declined further comment. EIFERT MISSING: Tight end Tyler Eifert was in the locker room but didn’t participate in the afternoon practice. Lewis declined to say why the often-injured tight end wasn’t on the field. ”He was here all morning and then all of a sudden he wasn’t,” Lewis said. ”I’m sure he’s being dealt with in some kind of medical fashion. That’s the only reason a guy wouldn’t be here.” Eifert was limited to two games last season because of chronic back problems. He signed a one-year deal after the season. Lewis said Eifert has been doing well so far in his latest comeback. ”When we start to play football Tim Williams Jersey , then we’ll have an idea where he is,” Lewis said. — Denver Broncos Customized Jerseys
  21. After loading up on defense on Day 2 of the draft Johnny Townsend Jersey , the Kansas City Chiefs will try to plug remaining holes on both sides of the ball on Saturday beginning with the fourth round. The Chiefs have the 24th pick in the round, along with a sixth-round pick and two choices in the seventh round. But that doesn't mean much considering the Chiefs used none of their original picks Friday night, when they moved around to grab a defensive end, defensive tackle and outside linebacker. Kansas City could still use help at cornerback, so general manager Brett Veach may not be done with that side of the ball. Wide receiver, tight end and offensive line are also areas to address, especially with a new quarterback in Patrick Mahomes II under center. What a difference a year makes. A year ago at this time Doug Flutie Jersey , the Winnipeg Jets weren’t even in the playoffs and the Vegas Golden Knights didn’t even have players. Now they’re getting ready to pit their depth, speed and two of the postseason’s best goaltenders against each other when the Western Conference final gets underway in Winnipeg on Saturday night. ”We know what they bring, we know that they’re good, that they maybe surprised a few teams, but not really,” said Paul Stastny, whose Jets advance to the final with a Game 7 victory over the Predators on Thursday night. ”They had 109 points. In a sense they play like us Ted Hendricks Jersey , they have a lot of depth and they can roll four lines and they have good, puck-moving D. So we’re going to have our hands full for sure.” Vegas beat the Jets in two of their three regular-season meetings, splitting the two games in Winnipeg and winning the lone meeting at T-Mobile Arena. Two of those games were with Knights goalie Marc-Andre Fleury out with an injury. Fleury has had a tremendous postseason, registering four shutouts, a .951 save percentage and 1.53 goals-against average – all career bests. Appearing in his first postseason, Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck has a 2.24 GAA and a .927 save percentage. Fleury had five days off in between series while Hellebuyck will have had just 48 hours to prepare for one of the fastest and most potent offenses in the league. ”It is a quick turnaround,” Hellebuyck said Thursday night. ”We’re going to get our rest Jack Tatum Jersey , we’re going to enjoy tonight and get back to it. Rest is a weapon, but I think the way we battle in this room, I think we’re prepared for anything.” Here are other things to watch in this series: SCORING The Jets have some of the best scoring depth of any team in the NHL, led by 44-goal scorer Patrik Laine. And he’s on the second line. Winnipeg’s top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler scored a combined 208 points in the regular season. The Jets’ second line wasn’t far behind, with Laine, Stastny and Nikolaj Ehlers scoring 183 points. Winnipeg is tied with Washington for the most goals (43) during the playoffs. Vegas also boasts two potent lines but is capable of rolling four dangerous lines to balance the scoring across 12 forwards. The Golden Knights had four players finish with at least 60 points this season Kyle Juszczyk Jersey , led by William Karlsson (43 goals, 35 assists). Linemates Jonathan Marchessault (75 points) and Reilly Smith (60 points) complete one of the best lines in the NHL. RAGING ROOKIES Both teams have first-year phenoms who can’t be overlooked. Vegas’ Alex Tuch has four goals and three assists as the sole postseason rookie for the Golden Knights. Winnipeg forward Kyle Connor scored his first two career playoff goals and added an assist in Game 5 against Nashville to become the first rookie in franchise history to post a three-point game in the playoffs. Connor, who scored nine goals over his last 13 regular-season games, had two assists in the Jets’ 5-1 victory over the Predators in Game 7. REST OR RUST The Golden Knights may have the advantage of rested legs, but they also will catch a dangerous Jets team that could still be fueled by momentum from Thursday’s win. Vegas had a long layoff after the first round and beat the Sharks 7-0 in Game 1 of the next series. But San Jose also had extended time off. ROAD WARRIORS Both teams have shown they can win on the road in the playoffs. The Golden Knights won Games 3 and 4 in Los Angeles to complete a first-round sweep of the Kings, then took Games 3 and 6 in San Jose. Vegas has lost only once on the road in the postseason. Winnipeg is 4-2 on the road in the playoffs after splitting a pair in Minnesota in its opening-round series against the Wild. They took three on Nashville’s home ice. — New York Giants Customized Jerseys
  22. Kole Calhoun has come a long way since getting a needed break on the disabled list last month Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Jersey , and Garrett Richards looked pretty sharp after his own DL stint. Calhoun hit a two-run homer, Richards pitched effectively into the sixth inning and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Mariners 7-4 on Wednesday to snap Seattle’s eight-game winning streak. Batting in the leadoff spot for only the fourth time this season, Calhoun had three hits and drove in three runs to help lift Richards (5-4) in his return. Calhoun’s towering homer in the sixth gave the Angels a 6-2 lead. He also had a single in the fourth inning for his first RBI. Calhoun is batting .306 with four homers and eight RBIs since coming off the DL on June 18. He was hitting .145 before that break. ”Kole did his job today,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. ”That’s what we need from the guys at the top of the order. It gave us a lot of opportunities today.” Richards, who went on the DL on June 15 with a left hamstring strain, allowed three runs, including back-to-back homers to Kyle Seager and Ryon Healy, over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out eight. ”I just overthrew a couple of heaters there,” Richards said of the home runs. ”But I felt good. The hamstring felt good. I knew I would be on a leash (80 pitches), so I just tried to execute pitches.” Richards retired 10 of the next 11 hitters he faced after the home runs. ”Garrett just exhaled (after the homers) and made some really good pitches Cameron Meredith Jersey ,” Scioscia said. ”He gave us a chance to win the game.” Blake Parker pitched out of trouble in the ninth for his 10th save. Mike Zunino singled and Denard Span doubled to put runners at second and third, but Dee Gordon flied out to center and Zunino was thrown out at the plate on Jean Segura’s grounder to Albert Pujols at first. Mitch Haniger ended it with a groundout to third. Parker failed to cover first on the grounder to Pujols, so Pujols had no choice but to throw home. ”Pujols getting that guy at the plate was a huge out,” Scioscia said. ”The pitcher didn’t cover there, so Albert made a great decision and threw a strike to the plate.” The Mariners had their chances, including a bases-loaded, no-outs situation in the seventh inning when trailing 6-3. After Gordon and Span struck out, Segura hit a broken-bat flare that looked like it might drop behind second base and score two runs, but Angels second baseman David Fletcher made a leaping catch to end the inning. ”I got a pretty good read off the bat,” Fletcher said. ”I kind of felt I had a bead on it all the way. It was a nice feeling to save those runs from scoring.” The Mariners struck out 15 times and left eight men on base. Mike Leake (8-5) allowed four runs and nine hits before leaving with no one out in the fifth. He had allowed two runs or less in seven of his previous eight starts. ”They were battling me Steve Young Jersey , fouling balls off today,” Leake said. ”Trying to get them to go down, but they found some holes and that’s about it.” Luis Valbuena drove in two runs for the Angels and Shohei Ohtani and two hits and scored two runs. TRAINER’S ROOM Angels: OF Chris Young was placed on the 10-day DL a day after straining his hamstring. LHP Tyler Skaggs was also placed on the DL with a thigh strain. Skaggs said hopes to miss only one start. OF Jabari Blash and RHP Deck McGuire were recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake, with INF Kaleb Cowart also optioned to Triple-A. … LHP John Lamb will undergo Tommy John surgery on his left elbow early next week. He’ll become the fourth Angels pitcher to have the procedure this season. Mariners: Manager Scott Servais said RHP Erasmo Ramirez could begin a rehab assignment soon. Ramirez has been on the DL since May 1 because of a right teres major muscle strain in his pitching shoulder. Ramirez said is willing to pitch in relief if that’s where he’s needed. UP NEXT Angels RHP Jaime Barria (5-4, 3.40) will start Thursday’s series finale in place of Skaggs. Barria is making his 12th start of the season and has given up two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts. LHP Marco Gonzales (8-5, 3.77) will make his 18th start for Seattle. Gonzales pitched the first complete game of his career in his last start, a 4-1 victory over Kansas City when he allowed six hits and didn’t walk a batter. — HOUSTON — With shortstop Carlos Correa battling what was described as back stiffness, Astros manager A.J. Hinch opted to keep Correa out of the lineup Tuesday against Toronto. Correa, batting .268 with 13 home runs and 49 RBIs, missed his eighth game of the season. Hinch is an advocate of resting his primary regulars and with Houston playing a day game Wednesday following their 7-0 victory Tuesday night Lance Kendricks Jersey , he opted to give Correa a break with the club also facing a grueling stretch of play over the coming weeks. “We’re playing 23 out of 24 days. We’re in the midst of the grind of the season before the All-Star break and I’m always looking for a day off,” Hinch said. “We’ve talked about rest for the better part of the last couple of weeks. There’s another day coming probably for him and there’s probably another day off for George (Springer), maybe even one for Jose (Altuve) before the break. All of that added up, it made for an easy (decision) not to play him.” Left-hander Dallas Keuchel (4-8, 3.90 ERA) will start the series finale for the Astros (53-28). Keuchel posted his second consecutive start without allowing an earned run on June 22 against the Kansas City Royals, surrendering six hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings. He is 3-0 with a 3.62 ERA over four career starts against the Blue Jays, last facing Toronto on May 15, 2015, and allowing four runs on eight hits and three walks over six innings in an 8-4 home victory. Right-hander Marco Estrada (4-7, 4.48 ERA) will start the rubber match for Toronto (37-42). Estrada has pitched exceptionally this month Malik McDowell Jersey , going 2-1 with a 1.75 ERA and 26 strikeouts over four starts and 25 2/3 innings while limiting opposing batters to a .510 OPS. He is 2-0 with a 2.96 ERA over 12 career appearances (six starts) against Houston. Blue Jays All-Star third baseman Josh Donaldson experienced a setback while rehabbing the left calf injury that landed him on the 10-day disabled list May 29. Donaldson was preparing to play in a rehab game in Florida and sustained an injury while taking ground balls. An MRI revealed an acute strain of the left calf, and Donaldson will be re-evaluated in three weeks. Donaldson was trending toward a return to action, perhaps as soon as this weekend against the Detroit Tigers. He has suffered through a largely lost season, logging 36 games with five home runs and 16 RBIs. Donaldson missed his 25th consecutive game Tuesday and 43rd overall this season, with the Blue Jays dropping to 21-22 without him in their lineup. Donaldson, a free agent following the season, could be a trade chip at the non-waiver deadline next month, but his injury situation leaves that immediate future murky at best. “The previous week we thought there was a chance,” Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. “He was moving along fine and then something happened. What are you going to do? “It’s been a frustrating year for him. He’s actually hanging in there OK considering. But he’s frustrated.” Adidas Nicklas Backstrom Jersey
  23. Ryan Shazier is neither gone nor forgotten. The Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker remains a fixture at the team’s facility as he continues his recovery from spinal surgery last December that left his football future uncertain at best. While there is a sense of loss Ronnie Stanley Jersey , there is no sense of panic. The Steelers understand there is no one player that has Shazier’s mix of speed and smarts. So they’re not even going to try to replace him. Expect a group that includes free-agent signee Jon Bostic, Tyler Matakevich and possibly even rookie Terrell Edmunds as part of the committee that will be in Shazier’s spot at inside linebacker when the defending AFC North champions open the 2018 season in Cleveland. The front office felt so comfortable with the idea it passed on selecting a linebacker in last month’s draft, the first time in nearly a decade the Steelers didn’t use one of their picks on a position coach Mike Tomlin considers among the most vital on the field. That’s fine by Bostic. The well-traveled 27-year-old signed a two-year deal in March following a productive if injury marred season in Indianapolis. Bostic’s arrival appeared to be for depth purposes but when the draft came and went, he now finds himself with as good a shot as anyone as lining up next to veteran Vince Williams. While he kept tabs on the draft, he didn’t exactly celebrate when Pittsburgh didn’t pick up a linebacker. ”At the end of the day, I don’t get paid to do that type of stuff,” Bostic said during organized team activities this week. ”All I can control is me preparing, when my number is called upon, make sure that I’m ready.” Something Bostic was last season for the Colts Robert Griffin III Jersey , finishing with 97 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery in 14 games before a knee injury in December sent him to injured reserve. He’s good to go now and eager to show he’s ready to unpack his bags and stay awhile. The Chicago Bears chose Bostic in the second round of the 2013 draft, but he found himself on the move following a coaching change after the 2014 season. The Bears sent him to New England in 2015 and the following January the Patriots flipped him to Detroit for a draft pick. He never played a down for the Lions after breaking his left foot during a practice against the Steelers. From there it was on to Indianapolis, where he breathed life into his career by being one of the most consistent performers on a team that won just four games. The expectations are considerably higher in Pittsburgh. ”Last year, when I was out there, I proved myself and going forward I plan to prove myself again,” Bostic said. ”I got a lot of unfinished business.” So do the Steelers, who were gashed for 164 yards rushing and 45 points in a stunning playoff loss to Jacksonville. Though Pittsburgh led the league and set a franchise record with 57 sacks, the defense struggled at times following Shazier’s injury against Cincinnati on Dec. 4. Throw out a Christmas Day game against Houston – which played without quarterback DeShaun Watson – and the Steelers allowed 33.5 points and 381 yards after Shazier’s exit. They’ll have a full offseason to get ready for life without him. The plan includes potentially flipping from a 3-4 to a 4-3 look in certain situations and getting creative with substitutions. That’s where Edmunds comes into play. Though technically a safety Adam Butler Jersey , he served as a de facto linebacker late in his time at Virginia Tech when the Hokies played with five or more defensive backs. There’s also Matakevich, a special teams ace who will finished 2017 on injured reserve due with a shoulder issue. General manager Kevin Colbert pointed out after the draft that Matakevich was injured during the same quarter the Steelers lost Shazier. Who knows what he could have done if asked to fill in for Shazier? It’s one of the reasons Colbert said he didn’t feel comfortable ”reaching” for a linebacker in the draft if one who fit the profile wasn’t available. ”Between Jon and Tyler we don’t know what we have at those two quite honestly because Jon is new to us and Tyler will be in the rotation and competition as well,” Colbert said. ”If there are positions that are available to us when we are picking, and they fit and they are at the right spot, great.” — That close friendship between Andy Reid and Jon Gruden could be tested, sooner or later. Gruden, now the coach of the Raiders, recently did a victory lap regarding the team’s signing of former Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson. 鈥淟ast time I was here in Oakland, we stole [quarterback]聽Rich Gannon from Kansas City Duke Dawson Jersey , we took [receiver]聽Andre Rison from the Chiefs, we took [defensive back]聽Albert Lewis from the Chiefs,” Gruden said in a conference call with Raiders season-ticket holders, via Pete Grathoff of the Kansas City Star. “We love stealing from the Chiefs. So now we鈥檝e got Derrick Johnson, and I鈥檓 on my way to the Raiders store to pick up a Derrick Johnson Raiders jersey. I鈥檓 going to wear it home tonight.” Of course, the Raiders didn’t exactly “steal” Johnson from the Chiefs. The Chiefs cut Johnson, and the Raiders signed him after an extended stretch on the open market. But those facts won’t get the fan base properly riled up, will they? 鈥淲ell, we feel like we have solidified the middle of our defense big time Andy Levitre Jersey ,鈥?Gruden said. 鈥淲e added Derrick Johnson, the all-time leading tackler in Kansas City Chief history. He started every game for them last year, they were the division champions.” It’s surely just huffing and puffing, a little Gruden being Gruden. It’s one of the reasons why the NFL is better when he’s in it. That’s ultimately why none of this will undermine the fact that Gruden and Reid are and have been close, for years. If their relationship didn’t trump team loyalty, there’s no way Reid would have let Gruden anywhere close to practice or production meetings in advance of Gruden’s final game at ESPN, a Titans-Chiefs postseason contest played at a time when everyone (most specifically Gruden’s former on-air partner Sean McDonough) knew that Gruden had a deal in place to coach the Raiders. 24. The Browns will again pick first on Day 2 of the NFL draft. Cleveland has the No. 33 overall pick Drew Kaser Jersey , a selection at the top of the second round that has traditionally drawn strong interest for trades. General manager John Dorsey's phone could be active overnight before the Browns are back on the clock Friday night with the first of their three second-round picks. The Browns also have the No. 35 pick, which they acquired from Houston last year in the trade for quarterback Brock Osweiler Troy Niklas Jersey , and No. 64, which they got from Philadelphia in 2016. Following the retirement of Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas Mike Daniels Jersey , the Browns could be in the market for an offensive lineman and Dorsey would also like to add a running back or wide receiver. Cleveland opened the draft Thursday by picking Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, who broke down in tears when Dorsey called him. The Raiders traded a conditional seventh-round pick to the Jets for quarterback Christian Hackenberg last month Kelvin Benjamin Jersey , but they probably won’t be handing it over聽unless the condition was cutting Hackenberg before the end of their offseason program. The Raiders announced on Tuesday that Hackenberg is one of two players dropped from the roster to make room for veteran defensive linemen Ahtyba Rubin and Frostee Rucker. They also waived linebacker Brady Shelton. Hackenberg will be available to all 31 other teams on the waiver wire and any team that does take a look at the 2016 second-round pick probably shouldn’t be expecting anything other than a camp arm. The Jets never gave Hackenberg a meaningful snap despite his draft position and 10 wins over the last two seasons and the Raiders didn’t think enough of him to even keep him on into training camp. EJ Manuel and Connor Cook are now the only quarterbacks behind Derek Carr in Oakland. New York Giants Customized Jerseys
  25. The Buffalo Bills hired Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator Sunday. Coach Sean McDermott announced Daboll’s hiring two days after firing Rick Dennison. The 42-year-old Daboll was the offensive coordinator for national champion Alabama. It was the sixth time he was part of the coaching staff for a national championship team. Prior to last season Jake Ryan Jersey , Daboll was the tight end’s coach for the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. He has 17 seasons of coaching experience in the NFL, including stints as the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns (2009-10) Kyle Juszczyk Jersey , Miami Dolphins (2011) and Kansas City Chiefs (2012). Daboll has previous ties to McDermott, as he was a restricted-earnings coach at William & Mary when McDermott was a senior safety in 1997. Daboll also has western New York roots Patrick Willis Jersey , having graduated from St. Francis High School in Athol Springs, a few miles away from the Bills’ facility. ”We are excited to hire Brian as our offensive coordinator and welcome him back to western New York Jonathan Stewart Jersey ,” McDermott said in a statement posted to the team’s website. ”I know how much this area means to him. He is a good coach and a good teacher and has been part of winning programs in the NFL and in college.” Daboll will be the Bills’ fifth offensive coordinator in six seasons. The Bills finished 29th in offense this past season and their running attack fell to sixth after leading the league the past two seasons. Dennison’s play-calling was questioned after Buffalo scored just three points against Jacksonville in the franchise’s first playoff game in 18 years. Daboll coordinated an Alabama offense that ranked 15th in the nation in scoring at 37.1 points per game and 13th in rushing. The Crimson Tide overcame a 10-point deficit to win the national championship game in overtime after freshman quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was inserted into the game at halftime. As a Patriots assistant from 2000-06 and 2013-16, Daboll won five Super Bowl rings. — The Philadelphia Orchestra has acquired a Super Bowl champion. Eagles center Jason Kelce will play baritone saxophone with the orchestra Tuesday to benefit the team's autism challenge. The music will accompany the team's highlights from NFL Films. In the offseason Willie Roaf Jersey , Kelce played with the Avalon String Band during a Mummers parade to celebrate Mardi Gras. Mummers are costumed bands most known for their lavish New Year's Day performances in Philadelphia. The group provided Kelce with the Mummers outfit he wore in the championship parade honoring the Eagles for their Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots. Kelce has played sax since high school. Authentic Womens Chris Herndon Jersey
  26. TORONTO — The New York Yankees evened their series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon Dalvin Tomlinson Jersey , but the availability of closer Aroldis Chapman for the rubber match Sunday was unknown. Chapman struck out the first batter of the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday in the Yankees’ 8-5 victory at the Rogers Centre, but then left the mound with a recurrence of left knee tendinitis that he has dealt with for the past two months. “I don’t think today was anything too extreme from what he’s been dealing with much of the year,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “It was more me getting him out of there because of the score.” He is considered day-to-day. Chapman entered the game in the ninth with a four-run lead, a non-save situation. “With a four-run lead, I didn’t want to take any chances with it,” Boone said. “He said he was fine to continue.” Chasen Shreve replaced the left-hander and finished the game, allowing a home run to Aledmys Diaz. The teams will go for the series win Sunday afternoon with the Yankees (57-29) sending out right-hander Domingo German (2-4, 5.37 ERA) and the Blue Jays (41-47) will start left-hander Ryan Borucki (0-1, 2.77). The Yankees also lost center fielder Aaron Hicks to a cramp and hamstring tightness in his left leg in the fifth inning. Toronto reliever Rhiner Cruz left the game with a groin injury in the top of the ninth. Hicks will be likely given Sunday off. No MRI has been done at this stage, so Boone hoped the day off would be enough. “He feels like he’s OK,” Boone said. Clint Frazier, who was called up from Triple-A, took over in left field when Hicks was removed with Brett Gardner moving from left to center. In a twist to the game William Hayes Jersey , the Yankees scored six runs and had four hits and six walks in 2 2/3 innings against Toronto left-hander J.A. Happ, a pitcher they could be interested in obtaining before the July 31 deadline for trades without waivers. It was the second poor start in a row for Happ, who gave up seven runs in 5 2/3 innings to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. Happ said the rumors of a trade, possibly to the Yankees, did not influence his start. “It really doesn’t change. I was ready to pitch. I was excited to pitch, I felt good,” Happ said. “I don’t know. I think you try to flush this one as best you can and it’s going to be a tough couple of days in between, but hopefully you bounce back. “I don’t think these last two are really indicative of how I’ve pitched the last several years, so you try to flip the script as best as you can and just move forward. “I’m just focused on playing for the Blue Jays right now. There’s rumors out there. You never know what’s speculation, what’s true, and what has any realistic chance. I’m just trying to play and pitch. I’m happy right here and we’ll see what happens.” German will make his 17th appearance and 11th start of the year for the Yankees. He has faced Toronto twice in his career, both in relief, going 0-2 with an 8.10 ERA. In German’s only outing against the Blue Jays this season Kendall Fuller Jersey , he allowed two runs, two hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings. Borucki will make his third career outing (all starts) when he pitches against the Yankees for the first time. He allowed two runs, six hits and no walks and had eight strikeouts Monday but did not factor in the decision against the Detroit Tigers. The Yankees are 8-4 against the Blue Jays this season and 5-3 at the Rogers Centre. They last had five wins in Toronto in 2009 when they were 6-3. The Blue Jays are 4-4 on a homestand that ends Sunday. Yankees manager Aaron Boone would like to see Luis Severino start the All Star game for the American League. He just wants someone else to take over in the second inning. Severino pitched five innings to earn his major league-leading 14th win, Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge each hit solo home runs, and New York beat the Toronto Blue Jays 8-5 Saturday. Severino (14-2) won his fifth straight start, allowing three runs and five hits. Two of the hits off Severino were home runs, marking the first time this season that he has allowed more than one homer in a game. Severino has allowed three earned runs or less in 16 consecutive starts. ”He’s been everything you want an ace to be,” Boone said. The All-Star rosters will be announced Sunday, although starting pitchers for each league won’t be named until the day before the game. ”I’d love to see him start, and go one inning,” Boone said. Jonathan Holder, David Robertson, Dellin Betances each worked one inning and Aroldis Chapman got the first out of the ninth before leaving with a sore left knee Larry Johnson Jersey , the same injury that has bothered him for several weeks. ”Just a little more discomfort than what I usually have been feeling,” Champman said through a translator. With the Yankees ahead by four runs, Boone wasn’t about to take any chances. ”He said he was fine to continue but I just didn’t want to mess with it,” Boone said. Chasen Shreve finished for New York, giving up a solo homer to Aledmys Diaz. Gardner connected on left-hander J.A. Happ’s first pitch of the game, the 14th leadoff homer of his career and first time he’s gone deep on the opening pitch. Judge piled on when he homered on Happ’s fifth pitch, his 25th of the season. ”He does a good job of really painting the corners and mixing his pitches well,” Judge said of Happ.” We were able to capitalize on a couple that were out over the plate.” Happ (10-5), a potential trade target for the Yankees, had a dreadful audition. He allowed six runs and four hits in 2 2-3 innings, his shortest start of the season. ”You never know what’s speculation, what’s truth, and what has any realistic chance Khairi Fortt Jersey ,” Happ said of the trade rumours. ”I’m just trying to play and pitch and I’m happy right here.” Happ matched season-worsts by allowing seven runs and 10 hits in his previous outing, last Sunday against Detroit. It’s the first time in Happ’s career that he has allowed at least six earned runs in consecutive starts. Happ has lost back-to-back outings following a six-game winning streak. Brandon Drury hit a two-run double in the first and Gardner hit a two-run triple in the fifth before scoring on catcher Luke Maile’s passed ball. Toronto’s Kevin Pillar hit a two-run homer in the second and Randal Grichuk added a solo shot in the fourth. New York outfielder Aaron Hicks left after four innings because of a sore left hamstring. Clint Frazier came on to play left field in the bottom of the fifth, with Gardner moving from left to center. Boone said Hicks will get the day off Sunday in the hopes that he’ll be ready to return for Monday’s doubleheader at Baltimore. Home plate umpire Lance Barrett made two ejections, both in the third inning. Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia was ejected for arguing balls and strikes from the bench moments before Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was also tossed for arguing. CATCH OF THE DAY Toronto’s Curtis Granderson made a sensational diving catch to retire Kyle Higashioka for the final out of the first. WALK THIS WAY The Yankees drew 10 walks, their highest total of 2018. It was the most issued in a single game by the Blue Jays this season. TRAINER’S ROOM Yankees: New York recalled Frazier from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre and designated RHP David Hale for assignment. Hale pitched 5 2-3 innings Friday in relief of RHP Sonny Gray. … C Gary Sanchez (right groin) caught RHP Masahiro Tanaka’s pregame bullpen session and also took two rounds of batting practice. Boone said Sanchez could begin a minor league rehab assignment July 15. … Triple-A RHP Luis Cessa is expected to start the second game of Monday’s doubleheader. Triple-A RHP Jonathan Loaisiga was a candidate for the start but has been ruled out because of a sore shoulder. Boone said Loaisiga had an MRI Friday and will visit New York’s team doctor Monday. Blue Jays: RHP Rhiner Cruz (right groin) left in the ninth inning. … RHP Preston Guilmet was assigned to Triple-A Buffalo. Guilmet was designated for assignment Wednesday. UP NEXT Yankees RHP Domingo German (2-4, 5.37) faces Blue Jays LHP Ryan Borucki (0-1, 2.77) in Sunday’s series finale. German has failed to complete five innings in his past two starts. Borucki made his home debut against Detroit on Monday, allowing two runs and two hits in seven innings. — Authentic Womens Kenny Young Jersey
  27. The Houston Texans have signed four unrestricted free agents led by cornerback Aaron Colvin and re-signed seven of their own free agents Mike Pouncey Jersey , including veteran cornerback Johnathan Joseph. Houston also signed center Zach Fulton, tackle Seantrel Henderson and guard Senio Kelemete and re-signed defensive end Angelo Blackson, receiver Bruce Ellington, outside linebacker Ufomba Kamalu Duane Brown Jersey , punter Shane Lechler, safety Corey Moore and inside linebacker Brian Peters. Colvin played for the Jaguars the past four seasons where he had 164 tackles, 14 passes defended and 12 tackles for losses. A fourth-round pick in 2014, Colvin appeared in every game for the Jaguars last season and had his first career interception in Jacksonville’s playoff game against the Bills. Fulton has started 46 games over the past four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and Henderson started at right tackle in 26 games combined for the Buffalo Bills over the past four seasons. Kelemete started eight regular-season games for New Orleans last season and appeared in both of the team’s playoff games. Joseph is a 12-year veteran who has spent the past seven seasons in Houston. He has started 103 games for the Texans and has 14 interceptions and 329 tackles. — Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin missed a third straight practice on Tuesday while dealing with a knee issue. Coach Pete Carroll said after practice that Baldwin had a sore knee coming into camp. He practiced the first two days with the team before being held out each of the last three practices. "We're just going to take our time with it and be patient Patrick Onwuasor Jersey ," Carroll said. Carroll said the team is going to give Baldwin a couple of weeks off in order to give him the downtime he needs before gradually working him back to full speed. Carroll said the team knows exactly what the issue is, although the coach wouldn't go into detail. "He's doing some special treatments to make sure we're taking care of him and then we want to bring him back into shape so we can really get him ready for the long haul," Carroll said. Defensive end Dion Jordan is also going to miss an extended amount of time while he recovers from what Carroll called a "stress issue" in his "other leg." Jordan has been plagued by injuries to his left knee in past seasons, but it appears his right leg is currently the issue. "He's got a little bit of healing to do so it's going to be a while Mark Andrews Jersey ," Carroll said. "We've just got to wait it out." Following the departures of Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett, the Seahawks have been counting on Jordan to be a presence at defensive end. The four sacks he racked up in five games last season left Seattle excited about what he could bring to the table. However, he continues to struggle to stay on the field. "That was a position that we were really hoping he was going to be a factor in," Carroll said. NOTES: LB Marcus Smith (hamstring) and WR David Moore (hip flexor) were new absences from practice on Tuesday. Neither injury appears to be significant. __ Authentic Womens Nick Nelson Jersey
  28. The Atlanta Falcons agreed to a five-year Kyle Lauletta Jersey , $75 million contract extension with left tackle Jake Matthews on Friday. The 26-year-old Matthews was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2014 draft. He has started in each of his 63 games while serving the key role of protecting quarterback Matt Ryan. ”I love playing here and love the city and I’m blessed and humbled,” Matthews said. The deal is through the 2023 season and comes one day after the team agreed on a contract ”adjustment” with wide receiver Julio Jones. The Falcons already agreed to a five-year Joe Berger Jersey , $150 million extension with quarterback Matt Ryan this offseason. General manager Thomas Dimitroff says the agreement with Jones enabled the team to continue efforts to reach new deals with Matthews, defensive tackle Grady Jarrett and safety Ricardo Allen. The Falcons promised to renegotiate Jones’ deal following the season. Coach Dan Quinn said he was ”really pumped” to have Matthews as a key starter on the offensive line for an additional five years. — Linebacker Shane Ray said in April that he expected the Broncos to exercise their option on his contract for the 2019 season Cameron Brate Jersey , but that’s not how things are going to play out. A report this week indicated that the Broncos were likely to pass on the option, which would set up a salary of $9.232 million guaranteed against injury only Steve Bartkowski Jersey , and Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports that they have indeed declined it. While the Broncos had been noncommittal about their plans before Ray shared his opinion, the picture changed during the first round of the draft last Thursday night. That’s when the Broncos landed Bradley Chubb with the fifth overall pick to give them a pass rusher to pair with Von Miller in hopes of realizing a bigger return than Ray has provided over the last three seasons. Ray has 13 sacks in 38 games since joining the Broncos and would be able to position himself well for free agency if he can improve on that production this year. Doing so could require beating out Chubb for playing time and that looks like a tall order given the fanfare that accompanies the rookie into the NFL. Authentic Womens Ronnie Harrison Jersey

      Bonjour Bob AST,

    • NASHVILLE Blake Martinez Jersey , Tenn. • New Cowboys receivers coach Sanjay Lal closely studied Dez Bryant‘s route running on film from 2017 before the team made a decision on the receiver’s future.
    • The Texans have begun formulating a plan to replace safety Andre Hal. So while it may seem like good-natured barb Josh Sitton Jersey , at its core it’s still a barb. Womens D.J. Fluker Jersey
    • For a while the mantra around the Washington Wizards was: ”Everybody eats.”   With the regular season winding down Albert Wilson Jersey , the slumping Wizards are starving.
    • Jalen Ramsey got his hands dirty Tuesday for the first time since the birth of his daughter.
