The Red Wings were down a skater often, putting the Blue Jackets on the power play six times.“We have to stay out of the box,” Blashill said. “We didn’t establish much of a forecheck, but every time we got a little momentum, we took another penalty. “The Blue Jackets enjoyed a big shot advantage for much of the game, but Howard prevented them from converting on a lot of chances to score.“We had full control,” Atkinson said. “We had plenty of opportunities and probably could’ve scored more, but Howard is a great goalie.”UP NEXT:Columbus: Hosts Carolina on Friday with Bobrovsky getting the start in net.Detroit: At Los Angeles on Sunday. If for nothing else, do it for him.”Martinez tipped Jake Muzzin’s pass past goalie Petr Mrazek to help the Kings end a two-game skid. Kyle Clifford added an empty-net goal at 19:07 of the third period. It was the first win of the season for Quick, who missed 18 games because of two different lower-body injuries. Quick became the 30th goalie in NHL history with 50 shutouts and he leads all American-born goaltenders in that category.Quick’s excellence was on display when Los Angeles had to kill off 1:30 of 5-on-3 play in the third period, as he made saves on shots by Jordan Staal and Sebastian Aho.Quick also got help from a penalty kill that had allowed 13 power-play goals in the previous 10 games.“The PK unit did a great job tonight, especially on the 5-on-3,” said Quick, who tied Chris Osgood for 29th place in career shutouts. “It takes a lot of courage blocking shots like those guys were doing. We got some clears on the 5-on-3, which was huge because it releases the pressure a little bit.”Mrazek made 33 saves for the Hurricanes, who earned at least one point in five of their previous six games. It was the first start for Mrazek since Nov. 2 because of a lower-body injury.“He kept us in there, made some big saves,” Carolina coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “The two goalies were kind of going back and forth. We needed someone to make a play, put it in the net, and we’re not getting that right now.”Mrazek did his best to give Carolina a chance until the Kings got a late offensive zone faceoff. Anze Kopitar won the draw against Lucas Wallmark, and Muzzin was able to get the puck to Martinez for his second goal of the season.Mrazek turned aside a one-timer by Jeff Carter during an early power play and denied Tyler Toffoli on a breakaway midway through the first period. The Kings continued to pile on the pressure in the second without finding a way to beat Mrazek. The Hurricanes had to kill three penalties during the period, with Mrazek able to save a dangerous tipped shot by Dustin Brown.Even with Mrazek making those saves, the Hurricanes could not capitalize on their own chances against Quick. Wallmark had a look at an open net in the final 10 seconds of the first period but put his shot low into Quick’s pads as he scrambled back into position, and Quick was able to smother a backhand by Brock McGinn in the third just more than a minute before Martinez finally scored.“End of the day Youth Colin Miller Jersey , unfortunately, we took a breath at the end and it cost us,” Brind’Amour said. “We’ve got to learn. We’re a young group, and young guys making those mistakes, I’ve got to do a better job on just keep hammering home these points because we can’t keep doing this.”NOTES: Kings C Adrian Kempe did not play because of an upper-body injury and is day to day. NEW YORK (AP) Of all the clubs that made deals before the NHL’s trade deadline, a surprise team took perhaps the biggest gamble. The expansion Vegas Golden Knights. They rolled the dice by trading three high draft picks for Red Wings left wing Tomas Tatar.Vegas has set records for wins and points by a first-year team and is tied with Nashville atop the Western Conference at 87 points. Because of that, the Golden Knights were unexpected buyers at Monday’s deadline. General manager George McPhee said the move made sense because the picks are spread out over four drafts and Tatar is under team control through the 2020-21 season. One high-profile player who didn’t get dealt was Ottawa Senators star Erik Karlsson. The defenseman, who can become an unrestricted free agent after the 2018-19 season, said he hopes to sign a new deal to stay in Ottawa. Talks on an extension can begin July 1.”I’ve been here for a long time,” he said before Ottawa’s game at Washington on Tuesday night. ”I’ve made Ottawa my home and it’s always going to be my home.”In all, NHL teams made 18 trades involving 37 players before the deadline on Monday afternoon.Contending teams such as Tampa Bay, Nashville and Boston all gave up first-round draft picks for a chance to upgrade and make a run at the Stanley Cup.The Bruins made the first big move on Sunday when they acquired forward Rick Nash from the New York Rangers. Nash could be counted on for immediate offensive help after the team announced Tuesday that top center and leading goal-scorer Patrice Bergeron is out a minimum of two weeks with a broken right foot. The Lightning, the Bruins’ rival in the Atlantic Division, also made a major deal with the rebuilding Rangers. Tampa Bay acquired defenseman Ryan McDonagh and forward J.T. Miller for Vladimir Namestnikov, two prospects and two high draft picks. McDonagh and Miller will join former New York teammates Anton Stralman, Ryan Callahan and Dan Girardi with Tampa Bay.The Rangers will now focus on their rebuild. They have three first-round picks, two second-round picks, two third-round picks, a fourth Calvin De Haan Jersey Womens , a fifth and a sixth for a total of 10 picks in the June draft. In the Western Conference, the Predators, trying to return to the Stanley Cup Final, acquired Ryan Hartman from the Central Division-rival Blackhawks for a prospect and two draft picks. The price was considered steep for Hartman, who had eight goals and 25 points and will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.Hartman paid immediate dividends, though, scoring the winning goal with a minute left Tuesday night in a 6-5 victory over second-place Winnipeg.”I’m going to a team that has a real chance this year,” Hartman said Monday. ”They made it all the way to the finals last year and made a really good run. I’m just excited to get down there and to get playing.”Winnipeg, four points behind the Predators, also made a deal with a division rival when the Jets acquired forward Paul Stastny from the St. Louis Blues. The current Jets have never won a playoff game, but have a deep and talented roster capable of making a serious playoff run this spring.”When I first caught wind of that it was a possibility, even just the possibility was really exciting,” Jets forward Blake Wheeler said after the deal was announced.”I think what he brings to our team is something that will be really helpful for us, plug a number of holes.”The move was surprising for St. Louis, which despite entering the deadline on a six-game losing streak, began Tuesday only one point out of a playoff spot.Among the contending teams that were quiet on Monday were the surging Philadelphia Flyers. They added goalie Petr Mrazek last week in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings. The Flyers, who had a 10-game losing streak (0-5-5) earlier this season, are one point behind first-place Washington in the Metropolitan Division. The Flyers are 10-0-1 since the Eagles won the Super Bowl in an upset over the New England Patriots.”You’ve got a chemistry in your room, so to make a deal, it’s got to be the right player, it’s got to be the right price Womens Deryk Engelland Jersey , and it’s got to be a clear upgrade,” Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said Monday. ”Otherwise you’re affecting the chemistry in your room. So for a number of reasons, we had some conversations, but nothing made sense for us.”The two-time defending champion Penguins bolstered their forward group by acquiring center Derick Brassard in a three-team deal last week. However, the Penguins will now have to get by without starting goalie Matt Murray, who is out with a concussion.THEY SAID IT”Every year it seems the last year a couple teams traded first-round picks and maybe they didn’t win doing that and (you think), `No one’s going to do that again.’ Well, they did. It’s the parity of the league, it’s the competition, and teams want to win.” – New Jersey Devils general manager Ray Shero on teams giving up first-round draft picks at the trade deadline.—GAME OF THE WEEKToronto at Washington at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland, on Saturday night. Jimmy Howard made 24 saves.“In the second I thought we stopped talking, we stopped moving our feet, we stopped shoulder-checking,” Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. “So we bogged ourselves down and all of a sudden we were in our end too much.”An apparent power-play goal by Athanasiou 3:55 into the third period was reversed because the play was ruled offside after a challenge by the Panthers.Hawryluk’s third goal of the season with 4:45 left in the second tied the game. 6. WINNIPEG Authentic Julio Jones Jersey , Manitoba — Jets had the NHL’s goal-scoring leader on its roster, Teemu Selanne was tearing things up as a rookie. The Finnish Flash went back and forth with Buffalo’s Alexander Mogilny during the season and they both ended up with 76 goals during the 1992-93 campaign. Selanne set a mark that will likely never be topped for first-year players. (Mogilny was already a relative veteran in his fourth season.)Fast forward to today and the Jets now boast the league’s leading sniper after winger Patrik Laine notched a quintet of goals in an 8-4 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night, giving him 19.Article continues below ...Less than four weeks ago, Laine was bouncing around the line-up, even spending some time on the fourth line, having scored just three times in a dozen games. In fact, he’s the only player in NHL history to record a hat-trick in three different countries in the same season. He’ll be looking to increase his lead in the race for the Rocket Richard trophy when the Jets host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday night at Bell MTS Place.Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin said he and his teammates are well aware of what happened in St. Louis on the weekend.“(Laine) doesn’t need a lot of room to get his shot off. And it’s so heavy, it’s tough for goalies to react to. He’s a dynamic player and he’s also got really good hands and can create space for himself,” he told The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.The visitors have hardly been acting like perennial Stanley Cup contenders and currently sit in sixth places in the Metropolitan Division Julio Jones Jersey Limited , but they got a boost last week when captain Sidney Crosby returned to the line-up after missing a troika of games with an upper-body injury. They’re going to do things differently based on the style of player but the end result is they had a lot of offensive zone time,” he said in a scrum after practice on Monday.“At times when Patty weighed in, he’s a physical presence down there. I’m not talking about dropping guys or knocking guys down, I’m talking about controlling the puck and holding people off. I don’t know how he did it,” Blue Jackets center Pierre-Luc Dubois said. “I don’t think he could do it again, but if he could, it would be great for us and great for the fans. That was an amazing goal. I’ve never seen a goal like that in my life.”“I was pretty lucky,” Duclair said.Duclair will put his skills on display again Saturday night when the Blue Jackets (4-2-0) and the 23-year-old winger face the Chicago Blackhawks (3-1-2), one of the two teams he was with last season, at Nationwide Arena. After signing a one-year, free agent contract with the Blue Jackets on July 4, Duclair made the opening day roster and so far, has seized upon the chance to play mostly on a line with center Alexander Wennberg and winger Nick Foligno.Duclair has four points (two goals Authentic Matt Ryan Jersey , two assists) in six games after producing eight points in 23 games with the Blackhawks last year before he was sent to the Arizona Coyotes.“I’m getting an opportunity to play with (Wennberg) and (Foligno) here,” Duclair said. “I definitely want to stay with those two guys. They’re very skilled, very smart. We complement each other well.”Cam Atkinson scored two goals in the win over the Flyers. He’s tied with Josh Anderson for the team lead with four goals. Artemi Panarin, also a former Blackhawks player, had two assists to boost his team-best point total to nine (three goals, six assists). The Blue Jackets scored three goals in the second period after falling behind in the first.“We got out legs under us after the first period and started playing our game, our style in the second and third periods,” Atkinson said. The Blue Jackets rebounded from a humbling 8-2 road loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. They’ve scored at least five goals for the third time in their last four games.“We have a lot of things to iron out and it’s not going to happen overnight,” Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said. “We’re not going to go into any panic mode. We’re going to go about our business and try to get better each day.”The Blackhawks had scored at least three goals in each of their first five games, all of those in overtime, before losing 4-1 at home on Thursday night to the Arizona Coyotes.Jonathan Toews and Alex DeBrincat have contributed points in each of Chicago’s first six games. Eight Blackhawks players each have four points or more.Chicago’s trip to Columbus is in the midst of a stretch of three games in four days. The Blackhawks will return home to face the Lightning on Sunday.Corey Crawford is slated to make his second straight start in goal for the Blackhawks after appearing for the first time since December 2017 in the loss to the Coyotes. He finished with 27 saves in a losing effort. “I think the most important thing is just to get back to playing and winning hockey games,” Crawford said. “It’s another game. Just trying to get back to the routine.”“It’s just a matter of getting more games to shake off the rust” he said.“I think the more you play and the more you get into games Matt Ryan Jersey Limited , the little details are what make a big difference,” Crawford said. “The more games I play it’s going to feel better. I’ve just got to work hard and make sure I’m in the right spot to give myself the best chance to make saves.”One of Crawford’s best stops against Arizona came on a third-period breakaway.“I thought he was unreal,” Toews said. “Stopped a couple breakaways, though we just kept testing him with those tough ones. It’s almost to be expected. He comes in, so confident and relaxed and just plays hockey.”Defenseman Brandon Davidson is expected to make his regular-season Blackhawks debut in the third defensive pairing with Jan Rutta. The 27-year-old, who made the team on a professional trying during the preseason, has played in the NHL with the Montreal Canadians, Edmonton Oilers and New York Islanders.Davidson will replace Brandon Manning.
  7. Mike Sullivan would love to point to a coaching tactic or some semblance of strategy that explains why the Pittsburgh Penguins are so good in overtime.Only Sullivan can’t. He’s been coaching long enough to know that when there are six just men on the ice and his team happens to have one of the most gifted offensive groups in the NHL Johnny Gaudreau Jersey Kids , it’s best to just get out of the way.”For the most part, it’s really just about great players making great plays and when our guys have the puck, they’re dynamic,” Sullivan said. The latest proof came midway through the extra period on Monday, when Phil Kessel drew Calgary’s Jon Gillies away from the net and slipped a cross-ice pass to Justin Schultz , who buried it to give the Penguins a 4-3 victory. Schultz’s fourth goal of the season helped the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions improve to 10-1 at home in overtime this season.”We’ve got the players that are so good out there with that much ice, so we enjoy it,” Schultz said. ”We don’t like to go to (overtime) that much, but it’s nice to know that we can get wins.”Evgeni Malkin scored his 37th goal for the Penguins and added an assist. Kris Letang and Chad Ruhwedel also scored for Pittsburgh. Jarry finished with 35 saves as the Penguins pulled within one point of Washington for first in the crowded Metropolitan Division. Tristan Jarry finished with 35 saves, including a breakaway stop on Calgary star Johnny Gaudreau early in overtime.”They got some physical guys, they have a couple bigger guys,” Jarry said. ”We knew it would be a tough game. I was trying to hold my ground as much as I could.”Mark Giordano, Mikael Backlund and Troy Brouwer scored for the Flames Los Angeles Kings Hats Womens , who outplayed the Penguins for long stretches before dropping their fourth straight. Gillies stopped 28 shots but had no chance when Kessel slid a cross-ice pass to a wide-open Schultz.”We go into overtime and it can be anybody’s game,” Calgary coach Glen Gulutzan said. ”We had a 2-on-0 there that could’ve ended it, but when you’ve got that many dangerous guys on the ice with that much room, somebody’s going to end it. It just happened to be them on that next chance.”The Penguins had dropped five straight to the Flames, including a 2-1 overtime loss in Calgary in November back when they played very much like a team dealing with a Stanley Cup hangover. Four months later, Pittsburgh is again looking like a threat to make a deep playoff run and wasted little time sprinting to a 2-0 lead.Ruhwedel collected his first goal since Dec. 18 on a knuckler from the point 2:10 into the game, and Malkin doubled Pittsburgh’s advantage 55 seconds later when teammate Bryan Rust forced a turnover by Gillies behind the Calgary net. Malkin collected the puck and flipped it across the goal line before Gillies could scramble back into position. The Flames, in the middle of their own fight to stay in the Western Conference playoff mix, tied it before the end of the first. Giordano finished off extended pressure with his 11th of the season and Backlund beautifully deked by Letang before beating Jarry with a backhand for his 13th.Letang put the Penguins back in front with a wrist shot off the rush from the right circle that ripped over Gillies’ right shoulder with 2:59 left in the second. Calgary responded again, with T.J. Brodie threading a pass between Ruhwedel’s legs to Brouwer’s awaiting stick. Pittsburgh leads the season series 2-0 over its Metropolitan Division rival.— ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Some comebacks are routine, others a tad more daunting. The latter applies to Ryan Kesler.Kesler, sidelined almost half of last season and the first couple of games this year after hip surgery, hinted at returning to form Wednesday night, scoring twice in the Anaheim Ducks‘ 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders.Kesler scored the Ducks’ first two goals, providing an early cushion the Islanders could never overcome. New York did not score until there were 34.8 seconds left.“He kick started our offense,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. The Ducks improved to 5-1-1 on the season, while the Islanders fell to 2-3.John Gibson turned away 34 of 35 shots for Anaheim, while Thomas Greiss stopped 21 of 24 shots for New York.Kesler opened the scoring at the end of the first period, cashing in on a power play when he backhanded in a rebound with 4.4 seconds left.New York thought it had tied the game at 1-1 in the second period when Cal Clutterbuck poked the puck into the net after it appeared under the glove and in control of Gibson. The Ducks challenged the goal, it was ruled goalie interference and erased.Minutes later, Kesler added his second goal of the game Youth Matthew Tkachuk Jersey , a wrist shot from just outside the blue line for his third goal of the season. The puck bounced out of the net and Kesler fired that in, too.“I had to make sure,” Kesler said. That game had taken a huge turn.“That’s a big momentum swing,” said New York’s Mathew Barzal.” Two to nothing, now. That happens. Just can’t control it, got to get back on the horse quickly and I thought, again we had some chances“Sometimes you run into a hot goalie and tonight (Gibson) played great.”The Ducks took their commanding 3-0 lead less than a minute into the third period. Max Comtois fired a short shot just inside the backline that deflected off Greiss and popped up a few feet in front of the goal just as Adam Henrique skated by. He batted it in for his third goal of the season.“We still kept doing the same thing and got a lot of good chances, but we got to put the puck in the net,” New York’s Johnny Boychuk said. “That’s all.”Kesler said he’s still not where he wants to be, but is pleased with his start.“I have a lot to improve on,” he said. “It’s a long year, but a good start.”He admitted, though Michael Frolik Jersey , some satisfaction in proving those wrong who doubted he would have really make it back from his hip surgery.“I love it,” Kesler said. “It’s my favorite thing in the world.”NOTES: The Ducks signed left wing Nick Ritchie, 22, to a three-year contract prior to the game. 8. ANAHEIM Chris Wideman Jersey , Calif. (AP) — Cam Talbot knew he needed to be sharp early if the Oilers were going to bounce back Sunday against the skidding Anaheim Ducks.Talbot made a couple of key saves in the first period that gave his team momentum on the way to a 4-0 victory. It was a strong bounce-back win for the Oilers, who lost 4-0 to Los Angeles on Saturday night. They scored three goals in the opening period for the second time this season and controlled action on both ends of the ice despite being outshot 39-24.Leading the way was Talbot, who made 39 saves for his first shutout this season and the 20th of his NHL career.“I had to come up with a few big saves early and that gets the confidence going. I was just trying to weather the storm until we got going,” Talbot said. “We got the big goal early, never really looked back from there and just kept piling them on.”It was Edmonton’s fourth shutout this season and first against Anaheim since Jan. 25, 2017. The Ducks, blanked for the third time, have lost eight straight overall after winning four in a row and nine of 10.Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl — who both had five-game point streaks snapped against the Kings — got back on track with goals. McDavid, tied for fourth in the NHL scoring race with 62 points, has five goals and eight assists in his last seven games. Draisaitl, who is tied for ninth with 52 points, has seven goals in the past seven games.Jesse Puljujarvi and Kyle Brodziak also scored. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Caleb Jones each had two assists. It was just Edmonton’s second win in nine games but both have come during a four-game road trip, which concludes on Tuesday in San Jose.“It was a huge win. We are now on a good road trip and can turn it into a great one,” coach Ken Hitchcock said. “We went into the red zone and attacked more. We scored three goals because of the loose garbage we were able to pick up.”John Gibson made 20 saves for the Ducks, who are 0-2-2 during a six-game homestand — their longest of the season.“When you’re in a funk and in frustration mode, it’s the hardest thing in the world when you work and don’t get results and they score. That’s how it felt tonight,” captain Ryan Getzlaf said. The Oilers opened the scoring at 7:37 of the first period when McDavid finally was able to get the puck under Gibson’s blocker on his third attempt from in front for his 24th goal of the season. A no-look backhand from the slot by Puljujarvi at 16:05 and a short-handed goal by Brodziak with 11 seconds remaining marked the first time since Jan. 21, 2017, at Calgary that the Oilers have led by three or more on the road at the end of 20 minutes. It was the third time this season Anaheim had allowed three goals in the first period but it was the first time it trailed by three or more in the period since Feb. 3 last season at Montreal.Draisaitl scored his 23rd at 7:25 of the second when he corralled a shot by Jones that was blocked by Anaheim’s Ondrej Kase and fired a wrist shot past Gibson to make it 4-0.NOTES: Anaheim D Cam Fowler played in his first game since missing 23 after taking a puck to the face Nov. 12 against Nashville. It wasn’t the 15-hour flight to China for training camp that had general manager Brad Treliving’s head spinning. It was the pace of Bill Peters’ first practice as coach of the Calgary Flames.“I was tired watching it,” Treliving said.Peters has lost no time in helping the Flames improve and reach first place in the Pacific Division during his first season. In fact, the six teams that hired a new coach over the summer are all doing well — certainly when compared to the five that have dumped coaches already the season. Those clubs are a combined 47-60-11 since making those moves.Peters and Todd Reirden, who took over the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals from Barry Trotz, will coach in the All-Star Game on Jan. 26 with their teams leading their respective divisions at the halfway mark.Jim Montgomery’s Dallas Stars are third in the Central Division and Barry Trotz’s New York Islanders a point out of a playoff spot with extra games to play, while the New York Rangers are overachieving under David Quinn and the Carolina Hurricanes are taking steps forward after Rod Brind’Amour replaced Peters. For Reirden and Brind’Amour, the challenge was moving up from a role as a longtime assistant. Capitals and Hurricanes players say the transitions have been smooth because each coach hasn’t altered his approach.“(Reirden is) a completely different person, different personality, different style and I think he’s stuck to who he is,” Capitals defenseman John Carlson said. “What’s helped him is just staying true to what we all expect out of him.”With almost the same roster back, Washington was expected to make the playoffs and take a good shot at repeating. Expectations were fuzzier for the Flames, Islanders and Stars.Calgary had alternated making and missing the playoffs under coaches Bob Hartley and Glen Gulutzan before Peters took over. The Flames’ 58 points have them tied atop the Western Conference and trailing only the powerhouse Tampa Bay Lightning in the overall NHL standings, a big testament to Peters’ puck-hounding style and straightforward communication.“He’s a great coach,” star winger Johnny Gaudreau said. “He knows how to win. It doesn’t matter if you’re top line, bottom line Authentic Erik Karlsson Jersey Kids , if you’re not playing well you’re not going to be on the ice. He’s not going put you over the bench there. He expects a lot out of his players and it’s been great playing for him this year.”Trotz has had a similar impact with the Islanders, bringing much-needed structure to a team that missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons and lost point-a-game center John Tavares to Toronto in free agency. Veteran GM Lou Lamoriello said with any coaching change three or four players get better and three or four get worse; he thinks Trotz has gotten the most out of a team far different than what he had in Washington.“He’s extremely detailed, very consistent in his approach as far as planning, execution, system and delivery,” Lamoriello said of Trotz. “He has an outstanding delivery to the players as far as no highs, no lows and holds them accountable to what is being asked of them.”In Dallas, top-line center Tyler Seguin said Montgomery has done a good job of giving players rest, sometimes opting for video work instead of practice. Despite an uproar over pointed comments made by CEO Jim Lites about the performance of Seguin and captain Jamie Benn, the Stars hold a wild-card spot in Montgomery’s first NHL season after five years at the University of Denver.Quinn spent five seasons at Boston University before GM Jeff Gorton hired him to coach the Rangers, and the returns on that decision are already positive. His job isn’t to get New York into the playoffs right away but rather instill good habits. He is also occasionally scratching players young and old to set a standard for quality of play.“He’s trying to set a tone of accountability here,” Gorton said. “I think he’s been consistent to who he is, and his philosophy is if guys aren’t doing the job, then I’ve got to put guys in that are going to do it.”Consistency and familiarity have helped Brind’Amour with the Hurricanes, who lack scoring punch and have a league-worst nine-year playoff drought. The players respect his legendary work ethic.“When he says it, you know he’s done it and it makes you want to do it, too,” defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk said. “When he talks, he commands the room and I think he’s a guy you really like to play for.”JOHNNY HOCKEYNo player in the NHL is hotter right now than Gaudreau Jean-Gabriel Pageau Jersey , who’s earning every bit of his “Johnny Hockey” nickname. His 16 goals and 35 points in 18 games are the most in the league since Dec. 1 and inside the organization show the progression of the 25-year-old into an all-around superstar.“There’s a maturity to his game,” Treliving said. “He’s had a real defensive consciousness this year. Not that he hadn’t in the past, but when he doesn’t have (the puck), he’s tracking to get it back.”TIGHT METROThe top four teams in the Metropolitan Division — the Capitals, Penguins, Blue Jackets and Islanders — were separated by just six points. That could mean a Trotz vs. Reirden showdown in the first round, Washington-Pittsburgh again or any combination of first-round matchups among teams that look evenly matched.“It’s a challenge and it forces you to be on your game all the time,” Reirden said.BANGED-UP PREDATORSNashville has dealt with major injuries to several key players. Defenseman P.K. Subban missed 19 games before Christmas, winger Viktor Arvidsson missed 24 of 25 and winger Filip Forsberg missed 17 in a row before returning Monday. Nashville endured a six-game losing streak in December but has somehow thrived amid injuries in the stacked Central Division.“There’s no sense crying about it,” coach Peter Laviolette said. “We’ve got to win hockey games.”GAME OF THE WEEKThe Boston Bruins visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on “Hockey Night in Canada” Saturday in what could be an Atlantic Division first-round playoff preview.LEADERS (through Tuesday)Goals: Alex Ovechkin (Washington), 30; Assists: Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay), 50; Points: Kucherov, 71; Ice time: Drew Doughty (Los Angeles), 26:38; Wins: Marc-Andre Fleury (Vegas), 25; Goals-against average: Robin Lehner (Islanders), 2.18; Save percentage: Jack Campbell (Los Angeles), .930.

He has allowed at least four goals in each of his last three starts. The Coyotes had a four-minute power play late in the second period but were unable to convert.“It looked like they were a little tense on that,” Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said. “You get one there maybe you get some juice. I think it seemed like everything just hit something and found a way into the net,” Andersen said. ”In the big picture, they earned their bounces.”Leafs coach Mike Babcock couldn’t fault Andersen, though he took issue with the NHL for allowing Larsson’s goal to stand up following a video review for goaltender interference. After stopping Pominville’s one-timer from the left circle Brendan Leipsic Jersey Kids , Andersen was knocked off balance from behind by Larsson, who was skating through the crease. Los Angeles hasn’t lost seven in a row since an eight-game skid in January 2008.“Losing in this game is not enjoyable,” Kings coach John Stevens told reporters after a 4-1 loss at the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. “We’re in this business to win, so at the end of the day, results are two points whether you do good things or don’t do good things.”Article continues below ...The Rangers (3-6-1) are also looking for improvement after coach David Quinn said they played their worst game of the season on Thursday night in a 4-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks, which opened a four-game road trip.New York was outshot 37-19 and produced just one shot on goal in the third period.“We’ve done a good job of skating and competing, but that certainly wasn’t the case tonight,” Quinn said. The Kings should get a boost with the return of right winger Dustin Brown, who broke a finger in the final preseason game and has been sidelined since. You can’t play perfect. You can’t win 1-0 every night. Tony DeAngelo, another right-shot defenseman, would likely slide into the lineup after serving as a healthy scratch the past six games. The Kings are hoping the next seven games on their home ice will help turn their season around.“We always want to be a good home team, so no better time to go home than right now and get things back on track,” Kings forward Anze Kopitar said.

The play was ruled no goal on the ice and changed after a video review, but the Oilers challenged for goaltender interference and the goal was waived off.”Not one that we wanted to be challenging,” McLellan said. ”I thought we could have done a better job, obviously, in those last few minutes. But not going to dwell on that a lot. We haven’t won in this building in a long, long time, so we’ll take any type of win that we can get.”Kings coach John Stevens was angry about the reversal, saying Brown never impeded Talbot’s opportunity to make a save.”I think the league is so confused that I’m confused, right? I don’t think they know what it is, so how the hell are we supposed to know what it is, right? There’s a loose puck sitting in the crease and he jams it in the net. Obviously, when you win in a rink and have those memories, it’s something you think about every time you go there. Being in that dressing room, it’s automatic to bring you back to some of those moments.”The memories aren’t nearly as sweet for the Sharks fans, who booed Crosby when he won the award, joining Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Bobby Orr, Joe Sakic and Jean Beliveau as the only players to win the Conn Smyth, the Hart Trophy and All-Star MVP.“It’s cool,” Crosby said. “You play and you watch as a kid growing up and you see that presentation so it’s pretty cool. OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Matt Duchene and the Ottawa Senators are attempting to put the drama behind them after a viral video of him and some teammates criticizing the club and assistant coach Marty Raymond emerged online Monday.Duchene spoke publicly about the incident for the first time Tuesday night after the Senators beat the New Jersey Devils 7-3 in Ottawa.“I want to take this opportunity to extend my absolute sincere apologies to Marty Raymond. He’s a heck of a person and coach and he did not deserve what we said. I sincerely, sincerely mean that on behalf of myself and my teammates,” Duchene said.“It’s been a tough couple of days for a lot of people and we needed to respond and we did (with a win). We’ve dealt with things and everything in (the room) is good. We’re moving forward and it’s hard for me to even talk about because it makes me emotional and it’s not the person I am, or any of us. We’ve done a heck of a job bouncing back tonight as a whole group and I’ve said it all season and I’m going to keep saying it, we have a heck of a group in here.”Ottawa forward Mark Stone said earlier in the day the latest bit of turmoil in the ongoing saga of the Senators is a “hiccup,” and that the team has already done work to repair the frayed relationship between players and coaches that was laid bare in the video. The video showed seven Senators players during an Uber ride in Phoenix last month insulting the team and Raymond. Stone said Tuesday the matter already was addressed before the five-minute clip surfaced.“It’s disappointing the way the video got released,” he said. “We dealt with this long before this video was released. As a coaching staff, as management, as players it was dealt with internally and the way it should be, and we’re going to move forward and grow from it.“We don’t want negative stuff surrounding our team and this is a hiccup. I think guys have made a great effort to repair relationships. This is only going to make our team stronger going forward.”The video was the latest humiliation for the organization over the past two years: owner Eugene Melnyk threatening to move the team; alleged cyberbullying involving the wife of former star captain Erik Karlsson; and harassment allegations against former assistant general manager Randy Lee.The players in the Uber were Duchene Los Angeles Kings Hats Authentic , Chris Wideman, Chris Tierney, Thomas Chabot, Alex Formenton (since sent down to the juniors), Dylan DeMelo and Colin White. They were discussing the team’s ineffective penalty killing and mocking Raymond in what appears to be a recording from a camera mounted on the dashboard.Uber Canada’s General Manager Rob Khazzam said on his Twitter account that video taken of a private conversation without passenger consent is a “clear violation of our terms of service.” He said such conduct is “totally unacceptable” and merits investigation.None of the players involved discussed the video Tuesday.“As a leader of this team I want to be supporting my teammates,” Stone said. “It’s something I never want anyone to go through with it. As a coaching staff and management and players, we’re trying to form a bond that turns this team into the right direction and this is a hiccup, but I think we’re on the right track of doing that.”Defenseman Mark Borowiecki acknowledged the Senators would have to deal with the “consequences” and “ramifications” of the video.“But we want to keep this in house as much as we can and deal with it appropriately,” he said.In the video, Duchene, one of the Senators’ alternate captains, is heard saying: “Marty Raymond, the only coach in NHL history to have the worst power-play and the worst PK within a calendar year.”Duchene later adds that he hasn’t “paid attention in three weeks” in Raymond’s meetings. The players apologized to Raymond in a statement Monday.Raymond, in his third season with the Senators Custom Los Angeles Kings Jerseys , was responsible for the power play for much of last season and is in charge of the team’s penalty-killing this year. Ottawa’s penalty killing ranks 30th in the league.Senators coach Guy Boucher said the team is trying to move forward and concentrate on Tuesday night’s home game against New Jersey.“I don’t know who makes decisions to put things like that out there, but when you purposely try to hurt another human being, I don’t want to spend too much time on that, and especially probably the best human being I know (Raymond), that’s personal,” Boucher said.During the morning skate Duchene was seen talking and laughing with Raymond as the two held a brief conversation at center ice.The matter has raised concerns about player privacy.“We’re all totally aware that any time someone says to you this is off the record … nothing is off the record in your life. So let’s get that straight,” Toronto coach Mike Babcock said at the Maple Leafs’ morning skate Tuesday. Many Maple Leaf players said it’s imperative for players to be aware of their surroundings when having a private conversation. And defenseman Travis Dermott expressed some sympathy for the Ottawa players.“I mean, tough bounce for them. They’re going to have to deal with that, but it could happen to anyone, really.”Added Vegas Golden Knights winger Ryan Reaves: “I would never expect a cab ride conversation to be made public, but that’s the world we live in right now. Everybody’s a snitch.”

The Golden Knights seem set up for major moves if general manager George McPhee wants to bolster the second-year team with free agents.Vegas didn’t appear to have a shot at landing the top prize on the market John Tavares . But the Golden Knights may make a run at some other available veterans to help increase their chances of competing at a championship level again next season.Players such as James van Riemsdyk and Paul Stastny would fit in up front with a team that stunningly exceeded expectations during the franchise’s inaugural season. Mike Green, perhaps the best defenseman available, is another veteran that would mesh well as a puck-moving defenseman for the speedy team. However, McPhee may not want to pay a heavy price with long-term contracts to land any of the top players on the market. He may choose to re-sign his own free agents, sign goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, who has one year left on his deal, to a contract extension. He may roll with the talented players on his roster while trying to draft and develop. The Golden Knights have some free agents of their own they’ll want to bring back. James Neal, David Perron and Ryan Reaves are unrestricted free agents with a chance to cash in on their performances last season by re-signing with Vegas or leaving to take advantage of a thin crop of available players.Vegas’ key restricted free agents are: William Karlsson, Colin Miller, Shea Theodore, Tomas Nosek and Will Carrier. Keeping Karlsson, without a doubt, will be a priority. Here’s a look at some other teams positioned to make major moves:NEW YORK ISLANDERSThe Islanders had nearly $32 million in cap space the day before free agency began, giving them more money to spend than any other team in the league. They’ll need a lot of that money to retain Tavares, who is easily the best player potentially available. The 27-year-old star center can command an eight-year deal to stay in New York for perhaps $10 million, or more, per season.NEW YORK RANGERSThe Rangers were $27-plus million under the cap going into the weekend, but had just 13 players under contract. They will have to spend about $10 million next season to retain restricted free agents Vladislav Namestnikov Custom Carolina Hurricanes Jerseys , Kevin Hayes and Ryan Spooner.TORONTO MAPLE LEAFSThe franchise hopes to sign Tavares, who is from the Toronto area, to give it a second star to go along with 20-year-old Auston Matthews. Toronto will have some tough choices to make with some of its own players potentially on the unrestricted free agent market such as van Riemsdyk, Tyler Bozak, Tomas Plekanec and Leo Komarov. William Nylander, a restricted free agent, will be a priority to keep after consecutive 61-point seasons.VANCOUVER CANUCKSWith twin brothers Henrik and Daniel Sedin retiring after counting $7 million each against the cap last season, the Canucks had nearly $25 million in cap space going into the weekend. They’ll probably have to pay free agents more and offer longer-term contracts than other suitors because they’ve been among the worst teams in the league the last three seasons.— ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) The Washington Capitals have never used more rookies during a single postseason than the half-dozen who helped Alex Ovechkin and Co. reach the Eastern Conference final. They’re contributing in various ways, including with secondary scoring and a freedom from the past playoff failures that became a burden for Capitals veterans.”Man, they gave us a big boost with their energy and enthusiasm,” said Matt Niskanen, a defenseman in his 11th NHL season. ”It’s infectious.”It’s part of a league-wide trend, too: The 50 rookie skaters in these playoffs are the most since teams used 54 in 2005-06. That could be a reflection of teams having greater trust in young players arriving from junior hockey or college, or the need to stock rosters with cheap talent as a greater percentage of the salary cap is devoted to the elite.”The way you build your hockey teams, those kids get a chance to play all season long. They get put in positions where they can succeed,” Vegas Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant said. ”Over the last 10 or 15 years, they’re more prepared.”The Capitals advanced to face the Tampa Bay Lightning in a series beginning Friday night by using five rookies during a clinching 2-1 overtime victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round. One of the fresh faces, Nathan Walker, assisted on a goal.In Washington’s Game 5 win over Pittsburgh Chicago Blackhawks Hoodies Womens , another rookie, right wing Jakub Vrana, was bumped from the third line to the top one and delivered an assist on the tying score before putting the go-ahead goal in the net. And to think: Vrana played a tad under seven minutes in Washington’s opening playoff game, then was a healthy scratch for the second. Played every game since, though.”I got an opportunity and I was ready,” said Vrana, a 22-year-old from the Czech Republic. ”I didn’t get a whole lot of minutes at the beginning, but even if I get eight minutes, I still go out there and do my best and try to make those eight minutes count.”Similarly, defenseman Christian Djoos sat out Washington’s first two games but played in the other 10.Vrana and Djoos were expected to appear in Game 1 at Tampa Bay, perhaps joined by forwards Chandler Stephenson and Travis Boyd, who skated together on the third line at practice Wednesday. Walker and another rookie who faced Pittsburgh, Shane Gersich, are also part of the group that matched the franchise record of six playoff rookies set in 1989-90.”There’s two kinds of things that happen with young guys. They’re naive and just play and have a lot of fun and it doesn’t bother `em. … There’s other ones that get the starry-eyed, saucer-eyed (look) and they have to sort of work through that,” Capitals coach Barry Trotz said. ”Early in the Columbus series, (Vrana) had a little bit of those saucer eyes. And then he sort of grew out of it.”The Lightning’s trio of rookies combined for 12 playoff points through two rounds: Anthony Cirelli, Yanni Gourde and defenseman Mikhail Sergachev. Cirelli has played a key defensive center role after getting into just 18 regular-season games. There are fewer youngsters in the Western Conference final.Alex Tuch, who turned 22 on Thursday, has four goals and three assists as the sole postseason rookie for the Golden Knights. Their opponent Chicago Blackhawks Hats Womens , Winnipeg, has three rookies, but only one has logged regular playing time – left wing Kyle Connor broke out with two goals and an assist in Game 5 of the second round against Nashville, then had two assists in the Jets’ 5-1 victory over the Predators in Game 7 on Thursday night.Back in 2013-14, his first full season as an NHL coach, Tampa Bay’s Jon Cooper used nine rookies in the playoffs, a total no team has eclipsed since. That Lightning club was swept in the first round.”I don’t think we were necessarily prepared for it,” said Tyler Johnson, one of four members of that precocious crop who also has appeared in the playoffs for Tampa Bay this time around. ”We didn’t know what to expect.”That’s the thing about newcomers, of course. They don’t know how they’ll react to being in the faster, more physical, higher-quality, higher-pressure playoffs.Nor do coaches or teammates.”There’s a little bit of the enthusiasm of the youth, something about the young guys. They’ve always got the smile on. Sometimes they’re funny. Sometimes they’re naive,” Trotz said. ”Sometimes they just sort of need a little bit of tightening from their peers or their coach.”—AP Hockey Writer Stephen Whyno, AP Sports Writer Fred Goodall in Tampa, Florida, and AP freelancer W.G. That’s what you have to do — you don’t care how it gets done, just get those two points.”Cam Atkinson and Artemi Panarin each had a goal and an assist Youth Dion Phaneuf Jersey , Ryan Murray had two assists and nine other Blue Jackets picked up points in the offensive explosion. Bobrovsky — who had been benched for Thursday’s game for violating a team policy and didn’t play in Saturday’s overtime win over Washington — wasn’t terrific, but held off the Rangers after they pulled the goalie for a sixth skater late in the game. The team didn’t release details of what happened with the two-time Vezina Trophy winner, but Bobrovsky acknowledged he let his emotions run away him. He said he spoke to the team and cleared the air.“We’ll move ahead,” said Bobrovsky, who hasn’t been able to come to terms with the team on a contract extension and may be traded. “I’ll get back to work and do my thing, try to do my best to help this team win.”NOTES: Columbus’ 19 shots in the first were the most in a period for the team this season. … Blue Jackets D Zach Werenski played in his 200th NHL game. 19. NEWARK Jeff Skinner Jersey , N.J. (AP million to buy the New Jersey Devils in the summer of 2013, Josh Harris and David Blitzer are getting a chance to see the team play some meaningful games in the final months of the NHL season.Following Saturday’s 2-1 comeback win over the New York Islanders, the Devils hold a five-point lead over Columbus in the race for the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, and a seven-point edge over the Islanders for the second wild-card spot with 20 games left in the regular season. While it is still too early to start celebrating, the Devils’ five-year playoff drought might be ending.”Yeah, I hope we’re going to the playoffs and long run, we’ve said consistently that we want to be an elite Stanley Cup contender year in, year out and there are no shortcuts to that,” Harris said Saturday night in a rare interview after taking part in the ceremony to retire the No. 26 jersey of Patrik Elias, the franchise’s all-time leading scorer. What makes this turnaround remarkable is that the Devils had their worst season in three decades in 2016-17, finishing last in the conference with 70 points.Their win over the Islanders on Saturday night gave them 72 points this season.”We have always said we were going to do things step by step to build long-run winners,” Harris said. ”Sometimes everyone gets impatient and we get impatient. Last year wasn’t great to be me. It’s very exciting to be in the hunt, but we are not done.”Much of the credit for the turnaround has to go to general manager Ray Shero http://www.officialhurricanes.com/authentic-adidas-jordan-staal-jersey , who came on board in the offseason in 2015. He has revamped the roster with the latest addition being the acquisition of 25-goal scorer Michael Grabner from the Rangers on Thursday in the first deal between the area rivals since the Devils came to New Jersey in 1982.It was just the latest deal by Shero who has acquired forwards Taylor Hall, Kyle Palmieri and Marcus Johansson, defensemen Sami Vatanen and Mirco Mueller and goaltender Eddie Lack in trades and signed free agents John Moore, Brian Boyle, Ben Lovejoy, Will Butcher, Jimmy Hayes and Drew Stafford.Hall is having a career season with 26 goals and 40 assists. His 66 points are 25 more than any player on the team. The bad season last year also helped earn the Devils the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. They got a winner with 19-year-old Nico Hischier, who is centering the top line.”Look when Ray came in in 2015 I still remember him saying things won’t necessarily change overnight, but we’re going to move this in the right direction and that’s all across the organization,” Blitzer said. ”What he has been able to do over the last 2 years, and I think as we look at the future, it has been incredible.”New Jersey still faces an immediate obstacle in its playoff push. He sat out Saturday’s game but practiced Monday and could be cleared for contact on Tuesday. The Blue Jackets opened the season with an overtime road win in Detroit on Thursday before losing their home opener to the Carolina Hurricanes the following night. Now they have to shuffle their lines without Dubinsky, who had a goal and an assist in the first two games while winning 68.8 percent of his faceoffs.“Dubi’s done a lot of work this summer, not only physically but mentally, and he’s dead-on his game,” coach John Tortorella said, according to The Columbus Dispatch. “Now in practice he hurts himself. The guys you pull for are those types of guys. Easy to pull for. You want to see them follow through.”Tortorella told reporters that offseason acquisition Riley Nash will move up to center the third line that includes Josh Anderson and Boone Jenner. Lukas Sedlak will replace Nash on the fourth line.“We just have to figure out how we’re going to play, with or without him,” Tortorella said. “I don’t want to paint a bleak picture; I just want us to get off on the right start in building our identity as a team.”The Blue Jackets filled a roster spot when they activated defenseman Scott Harrington off injured reserve on Monday. Harrington missed the first two games with an upper body injured suffered in the preseason.Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski appears to have avoided a serious lower body injury after a hard fall during the loss to the Hurricanes.“I wasn’t happy with how I played Friday night,” Werenski said. “I didn’t do anything. That allowed rookie Damien Ratley to get a ton of playing time out of no where — he played 88% of the snaps and had 6 catches for 85 yards. The thing I’ll remember most about this game is that the Browns’ three receivers basically could not make any clutch plays. Yes, maybe they were bang-bang type of catches. Maybe they were a tad high, or a tad far. But the receivers have to win some of those battles. Dolphins coach Adam Gase won't be shopping elsewhere for his backup to starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill."It's going to be one of those two guys," Gase said after watching Brock Osweiler and David Fales split the playing time in Miami's final preseason game.Osweiler enjoyed the more impressive final audition, leading three first-quarter touchdown drives in the Dolphins' 34-7 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night.Osweiler completed each of his first six passes for 65 yards, including a 1-yard scoring pass to Buddy Howell , on Miami's opening drive. He added a 14-yard scoring pass to Francis Owusu on the final play of the third quarter.Osweiler said he didn't think Gase and his staff would need the preseason game to evaluate his potential as the team's backup."I think I've started enough games in this league to be able to see what I'm capable of doing Youth Chris Hubbard Jersey , you know what I mean?" Osweiler said. "I don't think the coaches are going to look at just one game, but you'd have to ask them what they're really trying to look for."Osweiler completed 16 of 25 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns for the Dolphins (1-3). He had 25 career starts in 42 games in six seasons with Denver and Houston before signing a one-year deal with Miami.Fales completed 13 of 20 passes for 94 yards and one interception.Gase was impressed by the first-half production of the offense, led by Osweiler, Howell and running back Kalen Ballage, who had a 9-yard scoring run . Howell also ran for a touchdown."They had a good tempo going," Gase said. "They took advantage of some of the calls versus the coverages they ran. They got some explosive plays. It was good to see."Each team rested most starters in the final preseason game. The Falcons (0-4) had little offense with their starters, including quarterback Matt Ryan, running backs Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman and wide receiver Julio Jones, watching on the sideline. He threw two interceptions while completing only 10 of 25 passes for 103 yards.Benkert's first pass of the second half was intercepted by Jordan Lucas on a deflection off the hands of receiver Reggie Davis.Linebacker Stephone Anthony's interception of Benkert's pass late in the first quarter set up a 1-yard scoring run by Howell.A rare offensive highlight for Atlanta came late in the first quarter when Benkert completed a short pass to running back Malik Williams, who jumped over Lucas for a 16-yard gain. That possession ended when Williams was stopped on fourth down.Benkert's 13-yard pass to Devin Gray set up Williams' 8-yard scoring run with 25 seconds remaining in the half."That's the big back we were hoping to see when we saw him coming out of Louisville," said Quinn of Williams, an undrafted rookie.INJURIESDolphins WR Rashawn Scott suffered an ankle injury in the first half and did not return. For Atlanta, Williams and cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson left in the second half with shoulder injuries.NATIONAL ANTHEMDolphins wide receivers Albert Wilson and Kenny Stills embraced after each took a knee during the national anthem, continuing their protests of social injustice through the preseason. 22. went nine quarters without scoring a touchdown Corey Davis Jersey , but they’ve scored a pair of them in the second half on Sunday to take a lead over the Eagles.Philadelphia led the game 17-3 after Alshon Jeffery‘s first touchdown catch of the season, but the Titans have scored on three straight possessions to move ahead 20-17 with just over five minutes left in the game. The last of those scores was an 11-yard pass to Tajae Sharpe and it came a few plays after Marcus Mariota and Corey Davis hooked up for a 51-yard gain. The two strikes continued a good game for Mariota Authentic Kamalei Correa Jersey , who has thrown for 290 yards and could have had more if not for a few near misses early in the first half. He also ran for a touchdown in the third quarter to help spark the Titans comeback effort.Carson Wentz has thrown for 296 yards and two touchdowns, but was stripped of the ball on a sack by Titans rookie Harold Landry to set up a field goal and will need to lead a late touchdown drive for the second week in a row if the Eagles are going to avoid a loss. [UPDATE]- Matthews confirmed to A to Z Sports that he quit on the team. You can see the text he sent them here.Rishard Matthews was absent from practice today. The reason given was personal. That’s weird Youth Kenny Vaccaro Jersey , but it happens from time to time with a guy or two duringa season. Things took a weird turn tonight when Matthews posted this on his Instagram:The caption, in case it doesn’t show up for you http://www.titansauthorizedshops.com/authentic-dennis-kelly-jersey , is “When Daddy’s home for good. That is unless someone Calls him to get off the couch.”Now we don’t know anything more than this at this point. Paul Kuharsky says this post is an accurate indicator that his time in Tennessee is over. My guess here is that Rishard hasn’t been happy with his usage through the first 3 weeks of the season and things came to a head in some fashion today. The wording of his Instagram post sounds like he will be released by the Titans because that is the only way a team could call him and get him off the couch. There is little doubt in my mind that teams will call because he has been productive the last couple of years.
  23. Titans-Jaguars game were released today along with some comments from Mike Vrabel and Marcus Mariota after practice. Here is the good news and bad news. Good NewsTaylor Lewan returned to practice today as a limited participant http://www.titansfootballauthentics.com/jayon-brown-jersey-authentic , meaning he has reached at least Step 4 of the 5-Step return to play protocol for concussions. The final step is for him to be evaluated and cleared by team doctors and an independent neurological consultant and that could happen at any point now. There seems to be optimism that the Titans will have their two-time Pro Bowl left tackle on the field in Jacksonville. The Titans might even get his counterpart on the right side Jack Conklin back this week. He was a limited participant today as well and Vrabel commented on his radio show Tuesday night that Conklin “could be available in some capacity” against the Jaguars. The counts as the most encouraging update yet on his excellent right tackle.Getting Lewan and Conklin back for this game would be huge. The Titans will need all hands on deck on the road against one of the best defenses in the NFL. The big question, however, remains the health of Marcus Mariota. He practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday, splitting reps with Blaine Gabbert as he did at the end of last week. Unlike late last week, Mariota did throw during the portion of practice open to the media while sporting a special glove that had the middle and index finger cut out on his throwing hand to help with his grip. Reports seem to indicate that his throws were better than last week, but still struggled with throws further down field.Mariota said that the trainers had compared the injury to his nerve to a guitar string being strummed and that the tingling in his ring and pinky fingers would subside as the nerve “settled down”. It remains to be seen if he can get to a point where the team feels comfortable with him as the starter by Sunday, but it does at least sound like he’s headed in the right direction. The Titans could also be getting closer to getting safety Kendrick Lewis back from a foot injury as he was a limited participant for the first time since the injury occurred during the second preseason game. Lewis figures to be good veteran depth and a potential special teams contributor when he does return to the lineup. One other bit of good news is the omission of Corey Davis from the injury report. He had been limited during the week with a “hamstring” for the last couple weeks, but must have been a full participant today. That could be related to the fact that the Titans only threw 22 passes on Sunday, including one that was a jet sweep to Taywan Taylor and one that came on special teams Youth Kevin Byard Jersey , but it could also mean that the hamstring business is finally behind us.Bad NewsDon’t freak out, but Derrick Henry appeared on the injury report with a back injury today and was listed as a limited participant, though reports indicate that Henry seemed to be moving around just fine during the open part of practice. Similar to Corey Davis, this could simply be workload related after Henry was worked heavily against Houston and really had to grind for some tough yards. I wouldn’t panic about this though, I still expect to see No. 22 running over Jalen Ramsey on Sunday.Dennis Kelly did not practice as he remains out with an illness that had him in the hospital late last week. He is home now, but there is a chance that he won’t be available for a second straight week. That could be an issue if Conklin isn’t ready either. I would assume that Kevin Pamphile would get the call at right tackle if that situation came to pass, but Tyler Marz performed admirably there last week while Pamphile was at left tackle so he could be an option as well.Luke Stocker remains on the injury report as he was limited with a calf injury. He was limited during practice last week as well and then turned in an excellent performance against the Texans so I wouldn’t worry too much about this one. Finally, David Fluellen did not practice with a groin injury that is expected to keep him sidelined for a few weeks. The Titans promoted Dalyn Dawkins from the practice squad to serve as their 3rd back in the meantime. Jaguars NewsJacksonville had four players miss practice with injuries and three limited participants:TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (core muscle) - did not practice C Brandon Linder (knee) - did not practiceRB Brandon Wilds (illness) - did not practiceRB T.J. Yeldon (ankle) - did not practiceRB Leonard Fournette (hamstring) - limited participant RG A.J. Cann (triceps) - limited participant RT Jermey Parnell (knee) - limited participant Seferian-Jenkins, Parnell http://www.titansfootballauthentics.com/kenny-vaccaro-jersey-authentic , and Linder all played with their injuries last week against New England so I would expect them all to be available again this week unless a setback occurs during the week (though Seferian-Jenkins did not get a “did not practice” designation last week so that’s new). Fournette didn’t go last Sunday after sitting out of practice all week. His limited participation on Wednesday makes me think it’s pretty likely that he returns to the lineup this week. That would return Yeldon to a backup role, but it sounds like he may not be available anyway. Third down back Corey Grant would theoretically be the next man up if both can’t go, but my guess is we see a mix of Fournette and Grant for this game.Cann being added to the report worsens the Jaguars offensive line injury woes. They lost starting left tackle Cam Robinson for the season with an ACL tear suffered on Sunday and now have 3 of their other 4 OL starters appearing on the injury report. My guess is that these guys all play, but if they’re less than 100% they may struggle with a Titans pass rush that just ate the Texans line for lunch last week.Marcus Mariota’s Injury Isn’t About Pain Titans QB Marcus Mariota continue to rehabilitate an ulnar nerve injury that contributed to a missed game this season. Although Mariota was active, he spent Sunday on the sidelines with a baseball cap. It’s unknown at this point if Mariota’s absence will be for one game or multiple games due to uncertainty surrounding the status of his progress. Some fans are using the late Steve McNair’s ability to play through injuries as a means of questioning Mariota’s overall toughness. This is where people are wrong. The ulnar nerve injury isn’t about pain. Mariota is not experiencing pain associated with an injury. He is experiencing numbness that is effecting his ability to grip the football. If he cannot grip the football, he cannot be effective as his touch and accuracy will be greatly impacted. Playing Through Pain?As mentioned above, the thought that “Mariota needs to play through the pain” is inaccurate and off base. HC Mike Vrabel cited in practice that Mariota’s progress hasn’t really made any significant changes since he was last evaluated. Simply put - there are throws he can make and throws he cannot. Vrabel is of the mindset that the offense will be more limited with Mariota in his current health than it already is with Blaine Gabbert fully healthy. That alone speaks volumes. A takeaway from Vrabel’s statement could indicate the Titans offense could try to stretch the field in Mariota’s absence - and Gabbert has the arm to do so. His accuracy has been the real issue he’s struggled with throughout his career. Vrabel doesn’t want to takeaway the potential deep pass from the offense. Because of that fact, Mariota will likely remain sidelined until he can make those throws OR until the offense becomes more limited/less effective with a healthy Gabbert.Value Defining SeasonMariota’s ulnar nerve injury could not have happened at a worse time. Primed to run an offense tailor fit to his strengths, Mariota is now forced to watch and wait. Mariota’s is losing money the longer he is not on the field. This season was potentially a value-defining year in which he could’ve earned a contract extension early and become one of the top paid quarterbacks in football. Now Youth Delanie Walker Jersey , the Titans and GM Jon Robinson can chose to wait out on signing Mariota to a long-term deal until they have assurances the injury will not linger or have a detrimental effect on the longevity of his career. Robinson would much rather be in the opposite position, surely. He would much rather his franchise quarterback be healthy and put in the position to grow into a new offense. But the fact is, he’s not healthy. The season is still salvageable for Mariota in terms of increasing his value, but missing games will not help his cause. He’s clearly not missing by choice, but due to hampering the team’s overall efficiency. If Mariota’s health is restored and the time spent on the sidelines helps him advance mentally in finding comfort with the offense, he could still produce just enough to earn a deal - assuming he overcomes the ulnar nerve injury. This would completely absolve any concerns Robinson may have.If terms like “career-altering”, “lasting long-term concerns”, or the dreaded “residual damage” begin to start circulating - hit the panic button.

  25. on missing the playoffs for just the second time during 15 NFL seasons. For one Cheap Jordan Hicks Jersey , this isn't New England, where the rookie Detroit Lions coach spent his first 14 seasons as an assistant. And, Patricia said, there are still two games left for the Lions to play."I'm not going to put anything into summation," Patricia said after a 14-13 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday mathematically eliminated the Lions from contention."I think we're going to be focused on this game and trying to make sure to analyze this game and where we can get better," he added. "There's a lot of areas that we can work on."The Lions fell to 5-9 and will miss the playoffs for a second consecutive season http://www.eaglescheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-ronald-darby-jersey , while also guaranteed a losing record for the first time since a 7-9 finish in 2015.The result was indicative of an injury-depleted roster and a team in transition. Leading rusher Kerryon Johnson missed his fourth straight game with a knee injury. Detroit was also dealing with a patchwork group of receivers with Marvin Jones on injured reserve, Bruce Ellington out with a hamstring injury and Golden Tate traded to Philadelphia in October.Though Kenny Golladay had a career-best 146 yards receiving, Detroit punted on six of its final possessions in squandering a 13-7 lead in the fourth quarter.Bills rookie Josh Allen hit undrafted rookie receiver Robert Foster for a 42-yard touchdown with 10:26 remaining. And Allen sealed the victory by leaping for a 2-yard gain to convert a fourth-and-1 at Detroit's 41 with 1:47 left. And the Lions' usually reliable special teams also cost them.Detroit opened the scoring on Stafford's 4-yard touchdown pass to Andy Jones, but botched the extra-point attempt on Don Muhlbach's bad snap."Awful. I didn't do my job right," Muhlbach said, noting he had difficulty raising the ball off the ground. "I let everybody down."Then www.philadelphiaeaglesteamonlines.com , following Foster's touchdown, Stafford responded by marching the Lions 45 yards on the next possession only to have kicker Matt Prater miss a 48-yard field goal wide right."I don't have an excuse," said Prater, who entered having hit his previous 14 field-goal attempts. "You want to come through and make plays for your team when you get the opportunity. And it's frustrating not to."Patricia said there was plenty of blame to go around."There's plenty of situations out there on the field where we could do more to do better to help us win," Patricia said. "It starts with me. Have to go out and execute better."Though Stafford finished 22 of 29 for 208 yards passing and a touchdown, the Lions' offense all but dried up in the second half. Detroit managed just 117 yards offense and five first downs over the final two quarters. That was particularly apparent on what proved to be Detroit's final possession. The Lions gained just 2 yards in going three-and-out in punting from their own 33 with 2:56 left."We had our chances and opportunities and just didn't make enough plays as a team Philadelphia Eagles T-Shirt ," Stafford said."Yeah, it's frustrating. You play this game for the opportunity for the playoffs and a chance to win the whole thing," he added. "So any time that gets taken away from you, it's disappointing." Philadelphia Eagles starting safety and defensive captain Malcolm Jenkins is going to the 2019 Pro Bowl after all. Jenkins was named as a replacement for New York Giants safety Landon Collins, who suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 13. It’s the fourth time Jenkins has made the Pro Bowl in his 10-year career. Jenkins really shouldn’t have had to make the Pro Bowl as an alternate. He’s really good and very underrated. Jenkins didn’t a single defensive snap in the regular season or the playoffs. He played all 1,180 of 1 Philadelphia Eagles Hats ,180 ... PLUS 158 special teams snaps. The guy is simply a warrior. He’s never even missed a single Eagles game since signing with Philadelphia as a free agent five years ago. He’s arguably the team’s best free agent signing of all-time.The Eagles are very lucky to have Jenkins. In addition to being an incredibly versatile defender, he’s invaluable as a leader in the locker room. He certainly played a big part in the Eagles winning the Super Bowl last year and helped spark a defensive turnaround this year by suggesting that Jim Schwartz should simplify the defense.Jenkins is now one of four Eagles players to make this year’s Pro Bowl. The three others are: Zach Ertz, Fletcher Cox, and Brandon Books. It’s unclear if any Eagles players will play in the actual Pro Bowl game. I guess Jenkins might. Ertz said he wasn’t sure if he will. Cox and Brooks finished the 2018 season with injuries so I can’t imagine they will. The 2019 Pro Bowl will take place on Sunday, January 27.

Grid View Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota practiced fully Wednesday after being knocked out of Tennessee's season opener when he hurt the elbow on his right, throwing arm.Barring any setbacks, Titans coach Mike Vrabel expects his quarterback to play Sunday."He's feeling good Johnathan Joseph Jersey ," Vrabel said. "He was able to practice. He had some rest there Monday and Tuesday, and so he was able to get through and do everything and really looked OK."That's when the Titans (0-1) host rival Houston (0-1) in an early AFC South showdown.Mariota briefly left the 27-20 loss in Miami after a late hit from Dolphins end William Hayes after a handoff. Vrabel said the NFL told him that play should have been flagged as a late hit on the quarterback. Mariota returned but left for good after his second interception in a game that was the league's longest since at least the NFL/AFL merger in 1970 due to lightning. The quarterback said after the game he experienced some numbness in his right hand."I'm feeling pretty good, kind of taking it one day at a time," Mariota said. "But I was able to go through practice today, and it felt pretty good."Mariota has missed at least one game each of his first three seasons with Tennessee , and a variety of leg injuries have kept the No. 2 overall draft pick out of six games. Mariota left a 57-14 rout last October with an injured hamstring. The quarterback said he has never had this type of injury before and that he still had some tingling in his hand Wednesday. In the portion of practice open to reporters, Mariota's passes didn't appear to have his usual velocity. Both Vrabel and Mariota dismissed any concerns."I didn't have the Jugs gun out so it was kind of hard to tell," Vrabel said. I didn't notice a huge difference."Mariota said he didn't notice any difference, though the spin of the ball coming out of his hand might've been a bit different."I don't think velocity is a problem, the rotation of it maybe Authentic Zach Cunningham Jersey ," Mariota said. "But with that being said, as long as it gets there, it doesn't matter how it looks."The Titans already have lost Mariota's favorite pass threat with tight end Delanie Walker having surgery Wednesday on the right ankle he broke late in the Dolphins' game. 27. BOSTON — Brian Flynn Jersey , Justin Verlander won two games for the Houston Astros in the American League Division Series against the Boston Red Sox, one as a starter and one in relief.Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale was the loser in both of those games — also one as a starter and the other in relief. The two aces, former foes in the American League Central, match up again when their teams square off in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series on Saturday night at Fenway Park.Article continues below ...“This is a rematch of last year,” Sale said Friday. “Obviously, the winner of this one goes to the World Series. So like I’ve been saying the whole time, just keep playing the same game, not trying to reach for more, not trying to be better than I am. We shouldn’t play as a team like that, either.”As far as making up for last year, Sale said, “It’s one of those things that you learn more from your mistakes than you do sometimes your successes. You try to flip the script and be better from it, and try to keep the momentum rolling forward.”Sale went 12-4 with a 2.11 ERA during the 2018 regular season, and he is 1-2 with a 6.19 ERA in the postseason in his career.Verlander, who was 16-9 with a 2.52 ERA in the regular season, is 12-6 with a 3.08 ERA lifetime in the postseason, including 12-2 in the LDS and LCS.The Astros, who swept the Cleveland Indians in the ALDS, are seeking to become the first repeat World Series champions since the 2000 New York Yankees.“The fun part about this team is that the bar is so high for these guys,” said Astros manager A.J. Hinch, “and they continue to try to work toward exceeding expectations Abraham Almonte Jersey , either personally or as a team. It’s a great attribute for these guys to continue to reach for it.”The Red Sox have home field advantage for this best-of-seven series but the Astros had a major league-best 57-24 road record this season. They had the lowest ERA in baseball for both their starters (3.16) and relievers (3.03).This will be the eighth time Sale and Verlander will faces each other as starters — and Verlander has the clear advantage over the first seven. In this postseason, both won Game 1 of his respective series.Sale, who had pitched only 17 innings since July 27 thanks to shoulder trouble, went 5 1/3 innings, yielding two runs on five hits and striking out eight to beat the Yankees. He also pitched a perfect eighth inning in the Game 4 finale.Verlander beat the Indians in his team’s Game 1, going 5 1/3 inning and allowing two runs on two hits, striking out seven and taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning.According to STATS, in those seven previous games, Verlander is 3-0 with a 2.06 ERA, an 0.98 WHIP and .207 opponents’ batting average against Sale’s teams. Sale is 1-3 with a 3.97 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP and .261 batting average against when pitching against Verlander’s teams.Sale is 5-2 with a 1.83 ERA in seven career regular season starts against the Astros. Verlander is 5-5 with a 2.89 ERA in 18 career regular season starts against the Red Sox – including 3-3 with a 3.51 ERA in 10 starts at Fenway. Both have pitched once against the Saturday night opponent this season.June 1 at Houston, Sale was the loser, allowing four runs on six hits in six innings. The next night, Verlander didn’t get a decision against Boston, going six innings and yielding two runs on three hits in a solid start. The Astros won the game, part of their 4-3 season series win over the Red Sox.Boston’s J.D. Martinez, happy to no longer have to face Sale, squares off against his former team in this series. Martinez, like David Ortiz a decade before, was released, only to wind up a hero in Boston.“My failures in Houston made me who I am http://www.royalsfanproshop.com/authentic-justin-grimm-jersey ,” Martinez said Friday, adding he has “no animosity” towards the Astros. For the record, Martinez is 9-for-38 (.237) with 16 strikeouts, three homers and six RBIs lifetime against Sale.George Springer, who is fast turning into the new Mr. October, is 5-for-14 (.357) with a homer and Jose Altuve 8-for-24 (.333) lifetime against Sale. But Jake Marisnick is 1-for-11 (.091), Marwin Gonzalez 1-for-9 (.111), Evan Gattis 2-for-12 (.167), Josh Reddick 3-for-14 (.214) and Carlos Correa 3-for-13 (.231).Eduardo Nunez leads the Red Sox against Verlander, going 6-for-18 (.333), while Mitch Moreland is 10-for-32 (.313) and Brock Holt 3-for-10 (.300). But Mookie Betts is 0-for-13 (.000), Andrew Benintendi and Jackie Bradley Jr. are both 1-for-9 (.111), Ian Kinsler 6-for-38 (.158), Sandy Leon 2-for-9 (.222) and Xander Bogaerts 4-for-17 (.235).Moreland, who sustained a hamstring injury in the ALDS, went through a full workout Friday and his spot on the LCS roster will be determined Saturday. For the Astros, Hector Rondon and Joe Smith have replaced Will Harris and Myles Straw on the roster.Red Sox knuckleballer Steven Wright, out with a knee injury, will undergo the same arthroscopic procedure that Dustin Pedroia had in July (from the same doctor) and still hopes to be available for a potential World Series. Pedroia was not able to make it back. Michael Kopech might be nervous to check the weather forecast Wednesday night. The 22-year-old’s reluctance would be understandable. His first two starts on Chicago’s South Side have been interrupted because of rain — after two innings against the Minnesota Twins and after three against the Boston Red Sox.“I’m going to say a little prayer to Mother Nature and see if we can figure things out,” Kopech joked after his last start.Article continues below ...Chicago (56-83) will hope for dry skies in the rubber match of a three-game series against Detroit (56-83). The finale’s winner will move into sole possession of third place in the American League Central.Kopech (1-0, 0.82 ERA) is scheduled to make his fourth start of the season for the White Sox. He has allowed one run in his first 11 innings while walking one and striking out nine. This marks Kopech’s second career start against Detroit. He limited the Tigers to one run on seven hits in six innings when he faced them Aug. 26 in Detroit. The performance yielded his first big-league victory. The Tigers will counter with right-hander Jordan Zimmermann (6-6 Burch Smith Jersey , 4.22 ERA), who is slated to make his 21st start of the year. The 32-year-old has thrown four quality starts in his last six outings, going 2-3 with a 3.79 ERA during that time.In 12 career starts against the White Sox, Zimmermann is 5-4 with a 6.26 ERA. He has given up 45 earned runs in 64 2/3 innings, allowing 12 walks and striking out 43. That includes 20 earned runs allowed in 20 1/3 innings this year.Zimmermann took a no-hitter through five innings against the New York Yankees in his most recent performance, but he surrendered three home runs in the sixth.“It’s a tough situation to be in,” Zimmermann said to the Detroit News after a recent start. “My mentality my whole career has been to fill up the zone and get guys out in three pitches or less.“But it seems like on a lot of guys, I get 0-2 and 1-2, and I tell myself, ‘All right, let’s get this over with and make a quality pitch here.’ But there will be a broken bat and or a jam shot and, boom — two bloops and a blast.”The White Sox have tagged Zimmermann for 30 hits in his 20 1/3 innings.“It’s not like I’ve pitched horribly,” Zimmermann said to the Detroit News. “I am just around the zone too much and they swing at everything.”Outfielder Daniel Palka, who has homered in each of his past two contests, is one of the White Sox’ most confident hitters. The slugger has 21 home runs in his rookie campaign.Chicago has won eight of 12 and 14 of 21.“I think we’re all pulling in the same direction, and it’s a lot of fun to be a part of right now,” Kopech said. “Since I’ve been here, we’ve been a winning team, and hopefully it stays that way for a long time.”
  28. for BryantandGuerrero. Jimenez's representatives are speaking out on his behalf Devin Mesoraco Jersey , just as agent Scott Boras once did for Bryant. And this is only the latest in a line of articles (see also: Baseball America, The Athletic and CBSSports.com)decrying service-time manipulation.Momentum for changeis building at an opportune time. With baseball's collective bargaining agreement due to expire in 2021, it won't be long before negotiations over a new CBA get serious. The union is certain to pursue an overhaul of MLB's free-agency ruleshich could involve simply redefining a season or a more drastic measure to base free agency on agehat would allow for players to reach the majors and hit the open market sooner. The goal will be to funnel more money to players, who have been getting a smaller slice of the pie lately. With stakes this big, the conflict between the MLBPA and MLB could get ugly. The possibility of a work stoppage is real.Yet the league knows it has to make every effort to appeal to younger fans, so that's one reason to bend the rules in favor of young players. Doing so could also lead to the death of MLB's sudden tanking epidemic. If clubs call on their young players sooner and become more willing to invest in free agency, the number of competitive teams could increase. That's good for business. For now, there's only outrage. But out of outrage must come hope for positive change. Maybe, justmaybe http://www.metsfanproshop.com/authentic-jason-vargas-jersey , that's what will happen. CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs are closing in on the NL Central championship and have their sights set on another deep playoff run.It sure would help if Kyle Hendricks keeps pitching like this. They’ll take a few more big home runs from Kris Bryant, too.Hendricks went eight innings in another strong start, Bryant connected and the Cubs moved closer to the division title while dealing another hit to St. Louis’ playoff hopes, beating the Cardinals 8-4 on Friday.“This is what you look for,” Hendricks said. “These are the games you want to play in, games that have meaning like this. That’s why we play the game. Hopefully, we’ve got a lot of these left.”The Cubs came into the final weekend of the regular season with a franchise-record fourth straight trip to the postseason assured and their third division title in a row in sight. They remained one game ahead of Milwaukee, which beat Detroit 6-5 on Friday night. The Cubs can clinch the NL Central on Saturday — and home-field advantage throughout the NL playoffs — with a win and a Brewers loss.St. Louis matched a season high with its fourth straight loss, after being swept by Milwaukee this week. The Cardinals trail Los Angeles by two games for the second NL wild card after the Dodgers won 3-1 in San Francisco late Friday night. With two games remaining http://www.metsfanproshop.com/authentic-pedro-martinez-jersey , one more St. Louis loss or Los Angeles win would eliminate the Cardinals from postseason contention.“Clearly the back is completely against the wall,” manager Mike Shildt said.Hendricks (14-11) gave up two runs and seven hits . The right-hander is 5-1 with a 1.52 ERA in his past seven outings and has thrown a career-high 199 innings.“He’s pitched with his best stuff since I’ve known him,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said. “There’s not many strikeouts, not a lot of swing-and-misses. But the velocity on the fastball, he’s back to the weaker contact in general. He looks strong. … I just see a stronger version of Kyle.”Bryant made it 3-0 with a long solo drive to center against Adam Wainwright in the fourth. That gave the 2016 NL MVP just two homers in 27 games and 13 total in a season marked by injuries. Bryant missed the previous two games because of a bruised left wrist after getting hit by a pitch and was on the disabled list two times this year because of left shoulder inflammation.Daniel Murphy had two hits, two runs and an RBI. He singled and scored in a two-run first, doubled and came around in the fifth, and added a sacrifice fly in the seventh.Anthony Rizzo had an RBI single and sacrifice fly.Albert Almora drove in two with a single against Dominic Leone to cap a three-run eighth, making it 8-2 Giancarlo Stanton Jersey , and the Cubs won their third in a row after losing four of six.“We’ve been here before,” Bryant said, referring to three straight appearances in the NLCS and a World Series championship in 2016 that ended a drought dating to 1908. “We’ve been under pressure situations. I think we know how to handle it.”Wainwright (2-4) is now 11-3 lifetime at Wrigley Field. He lasted five innings, allowing four runs and five hits, in what could be his final start for the Cardinals. Though he didn’t sound like a player ready to walk away, the three-time All-Star has an expiring contract and was on the disabled list three times this season because of hamstring and elbow injuries.“If you had asked me that question about two months ago, I would have already checked out on you,” Wainwright said. “But the way I’m feeling right now, if that is my last start http://www.yankeesfanproshop.com/authentic-derek-jeter-jersey , it would be kind of hard to walk away knowing the way I’m feeling right now.”TRAINER’S ROOMCubs: Manager Joe Maddon said he wasn’t sure if reliever Pedro Strop (strained left hamstring) will pitch this weekend. The right-hander still feels some discomfort on the landing throwing off the mound. Strop has been sidelined since Sept. 13, when he was hurt running to first on a double-play grounder at Washington. … The Cubs activated C Bobby Wilson, who was acquired Aug. 30 from Minnesota on Friday. The Twins placed him on the 10-day disabled list Aug. 24 because of a sprained right ankle.UP NEXTCardinals: RHP Miles Mikolas (17-4, 2.94 ERA) looks to win his fifth straight start, after holding San Francisco to two runs and two hits in seven innings on Sunday.Cubs: LHP Cole Hamels (4-2, 2.47) tries to shake off back-to-back losses after going 4-0 in his first nine starts for Chicago following a trade from Texas. He homered against Pittsburgh on Monday but got outpitched by Jameson Taillon.

      Bonjour Bob AST,

    • were one of the best NHL teams in overtime last year. With a talented player like Artemi Panarin Custom Minnesota Wild Jerseys , they may be tough to beat in 3-on-3 hockey again this season.Panarin scored midway through overtime, lifting Columbus to a 3-2 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night in the opener for both teams.“He doesn’t seem to get tired,” said Cam Atkinson , who scored the Blue Jackets’ first goal. “He’s a game-changer.”Columbus was 9-3 in overtime last season, trailing only Pittsburgh’s rate of success. Detroit, meanwhile, was an NHL-worst 3-12 in overtime in 2017-18.Panarin broke franchise records and set career highs with 55 assists and 82 points last season, his first in Columbus after being acquired in a trade with Chicago. The Russian winger likes to stay on the ice a lot and coach John Tortorella doesn’t have a problem with it.“I’m not going to get in his way because he’s a game-breaker,” Tortorella said.Atkinson and Josh Anderson gave Columbus the lead over the first two periods. Rookie Dennis Cholowski and Tyler Bertuzzi pulled the Red Wings into a tie with goals in the second period.Joonas Korpisalo stopped 18 shots for the Blue Jackets. Detroit’s Jimmy Howard made 36 saves, helping the team send the game past regulation.“We got outshot by a lot and we were outplayed territorially, but Jimmy gave us a chance at two points,” Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. “We got one of them, and he was a big part of that.”The rebuilding Red Wings honored Henrik Zetterberg, whose career is over because of a back ailment, before the game. Then, the team put five players on the ice who were playing for the first time in the NHL.Cholowski, Christoffer Ehn, Michael Rasmussen, Filip Hronek and Libor Sulak all made their debut.“With experience and games, they’re only going to get better and better,” Detroit’s Justin Abdelkader said. “With experience and work, they can really grow.”The last time an NHL team had that many rookies playing in their first game together was Detroit in 1985. It has happened just two other times in the league since the 1979 www.officialcanadiensprostore.com , with the Colorado Rockies and Vancouver Canucks in 1981.Columbus is coming off consecutive postseason appearances for the first time in its 17-year history. The Blue Jackets are in win-now mode , aiming to advance in the playoffs for the first time with goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and Panarin entering the last year of their contracts.Columbus controlled the play and the puck for most of the night, looking like it was on the power play during even-strength situations at times. PITTSBURGH (AP) The Pittsburgh Penguins‘ quest for a three-peat is officially on.Patric Hornqvist picked up his 200th career goal and the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions clinched their 12th straight playoff berth with a 5-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night.Phil Kessel, Riley Sheahan, Conor Sheary and Carl Hagelin also scored for Pittsburgh, which dominated the largely listless Canadiens to improve to 17-1-1 in their last 19 games at PPG Paints Arena. • has delivered plenty of brilliant goaltending performances for the Los Angeles Kings Cody Eakin Jersey , and Alec Martinez wasn’t going to let the latest masterpiece go for naught.Martinez scored with 2:13 left, Quick stopped 34 shots for his 50th career shutout and the Kings defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 2-0 on Sunday night.“If anything, you wanted to do it for Quickie because Jonathan Quick was simply outstanding,” Martinez said. “I’ve seen that guy play a lot of really good hockey, and that game was certainly up there. The 26-year-old right-hander struck out three and walked one Authentic Mikael Backlund Jersey , helping the Pirates stop a three-game slide. He became the first visiting pitcher to toss a nine-inning complete game in Denver since Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw shut out the Rockies on July 2, 2013.“I’ve watched 1,300, 1,400 ballgames here, you don’t see a lot of complete games,” said Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle, who managed the Rockies over eight seasons. “He finished strong.”Taillon threw 107 pitches Mike Smith Jersey , 70 for strikes. He needed just 15 to get the final three outs in his second career complete game.“You always hear closing out games is tough, weird things happen in the ninth so I told myself it’s a 0-0 game, let’s close out this inning,” Taillon said.Starling Marte hit a solo drive in the first and Jordy Mercer connected for a three-run shot against Bettis (5-2) with two out in the fourth. Josh Harrison capped Pittsburgh’s five-run fifth with a two-run homer off Jake McGee.Bettis allowed nine runs and eight hits over 4 2/3 innings in his first start after missing five weeks with a blister on his right middle finger.“The problem was those two walks in the fourth and the home run by Mercer,” Bettis said. “It really came down to those three at-bats where I didn’t really execute the pitches like I wanted to.”Taillon was diagnosed with cancer last year and missed six weeks after surgery last May.Bettis was diagnosed in November 2016. He was cleared to report to spring training before tests revealed he had cancer in his lymph nodes and he underwent treatment. • WINNIPEG Authentic Julio Jones Jersey , Manitoba — Jets had the NHL’s goal-scoring leader on its roster, Teemu Selanne was tearing things up as a rookie. Then the Jets flew to Finland for a pair of contests against the Florida Panthers and Laine suddenly regained his scoring touch, scoring four goals, including one hat-trick.His torrid pace has continued, including two more hat-tricks and 11 goals in his last four games. He has five points in three games since his return, two of them wins. The Penguins know they’ve got a tough week ahead as they have to travel to Colorado for Wednesday night, where they’ll face arguably the hottest line in the league, center Nathan MacKinnon and wingers Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog.Jets coach Paul Maurice was quick to praise not only Laine but his entire second line, including center Bryan Little and left winger Kyle Connor, who each had four points against the Blues.“What the three of them were able to do was impressive. Each one of them does it differently but they’re starting to bring their own individual gifts to the line and play off each other well.” The Columbus Blue Jackets‘ offseason move that received the most attention was the addition of center Riley Nash. Not much attention was paid to the acquisition of Anthony Duclair. But Duclair is making people stand up and take notice on the ice in his first season in Columbus. He certainly attracted plenty of attention with his goal in the Blue Jackets’ 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night that set social media abuzz and made all the highlight shows. At 17:53 of the first period, Duclair skated down the ice to the right dot after taking a pass from defenseman Ryan Murray.
    • Mike Sullivan would love to point to a coaching tactic or some semblance of strategy that explains why the Pittsburgh Penguins are so good in overtime.Only Sullivan can’t.
